Off-peak 3pm crab restaurant in Pohang Jukdo Market: Gallilli Daegae
In short
Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is a snow crab and sashimi restaurant at the entrance of the crab street in Jukdo Market, Pohang. On a late summer holiday trip, the writer arrived at 3pm after the lunch rush and ordered the bakdal snow crab course for two at 130,000 won, which ran from abalone porridge, icy mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and soy-marinated crab side dishes through assorted sashimi, pre-cleaned bakdal snow crab, crab-shell bibimbap and spicy stew. For a full snow crab course done properly in Pohang, Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is worth the trip.

Did everyone get their summer vacation in? I went to Pohang for a late summer vacation. After resting up I should feel recharged... but honestly I just want to go play again, haha.
Since I was in Pohang, the city of the sea, I really wanted a proper seafood spread, so I went looking for a good snow crab place and ended up at Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang in Jukdo Fish Market. Let's get into the honest review ⭐
Walking from Jukdo Market public parking lot to Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang

Park at the Jukdo Market public parking lot and it's about 10 seconds' walk straight ahead down the crab street — really easy to find. The tank out front packed with live snow crabs 🦀 had me drooling already ><
The inside was clean, basic stuff, but also spacious enough to look good for groups. We visited around 3pm, past the lunch peak, so it was quiet and we got to eat at a relaxed pace ദ്ദി ՞• ·̫ •՞ ꒱
What comes with the 130,000 won bakdal snow crab course for two?
We ordered the bakdal course for two at ₩130,000.

There were all kinds of course options — bakdal snow crab, Yeongdeok snow crab, red crab — plus assorted sashimi. I looked up what makes a crab "bakdal": it just means a snow crab with the meat packed all the way through. So we went with the bakdal course for two ✨

After ordering, the first thing to arrive was abalone porridge — nutty, warm, and the perfect stomach warm-up. Then came the sseukdaesi (side dishes) that came with the course.
Icy mulhoe, soy-marinated crab and bibim-hoe to start

The mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) here isn't the broth-heavy kind — it's the style you mix into shaved ice. Maybe a Pohang thing? I'm not usually a huge mulhoe person, but the cool, tangy flavor really woke up my appetite.

The soy-marinated crab was also packed with meat. The salty-savory soy sauce marinade made me want a bowl of plain white rice immediately... my boyfriend, a self-proclaimed soy crab connoisseur, declared "this is what soy crab should taste like."
This one's bibim-hoe — cool radish + seaweed + chogochujang (vinegared chili paste) + raw fish combo? Guaranteed delicious.
Abalone, sea squirt, conch and steamed baby squid

While we were busy working through the side dishes, more came out! Fresh abalone, sea squirt, conch, spicy braised baby squid, mushroom and conch jang (soy-marinated seafood), and even a warm clam and mussel soup... Since they do both wholesale and retail, the seafood was super fresh. I'm pretty sensitive to fishy flavors, but the abalone, conch, and sea squirt were all so fresh they tasted sweet.

The assorted sashimi platter included in the course
Did we order extra sashimi? Nope — this assorted sashimi platter is part of the course. The mix seems to change day to day; ours had flounder, yellowtail amberjack, and flatfish. Thick-cut and chewy — genuinely excellent. It was such a shame I can't drink, ㅠ

The main event, the crab, hadn't even arrived and the table was already full haha. This is exactly what a proper Pohang crab restaurant should look like — full spread, big thumbs up.
Pre-cleaned bakdal snow crab: how full is the meat?

Ah, the long-awaited bakdal snow crab finally showed up, striking a heart pose. Cleaning crab yourself is such a chore, right? At Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang it comes already cleaned and ready to eat, which I really appreciated.

Basically 100% meat yield. Can you see how packed the meat is, living up to the "bakdal" name? It had been so long since I'd had snow crab — moist, tender, savory and salty all at once. Can't believe I'd forgotten this flavor...
Finishing with crab-shell bibimbap and spicy maeuntang stew

And you can't eat crab without finishing with crab roe bibimbap in the shell — they took care of that too. It's delicious on its own, but pile on some crab meat and each bite is twice, no, a hundred times better.
Just when I thought we were done, out came a spicy stew too... 😮 Finishing with a spicy, punchy broth made it a truly complete meal.

Is the Pohang snow crab course at Gallilli Daegae worth 130,000 won?

Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang delivered a properly full table — not just crab, but seafood, sashimi, crab roe rice, and stew too! Everything was generous and the seafood was fresh throughout, so if you're looking for a snow crab course in Pohang, it's worth a visit 🤤
