Where is Ciment Chungnam National University Branch in Gung-dong?
Ciment Chungnam National University Branch is a Western-style restaurant in Gung-dong, Daejeon, in the university district right in front of Chungnam National University. It's super easy for students to drop by.
I went on a trip to Daejeon for the first time in a while! My younger sibling goes to Chungnam National University, so this time I stayed nearby! I walked around the university district for the very first time, and while wondering what to have for dinner, I decided to visit Ciment! I don't really know Gung-dong, but it's right in the middle of the university district, so it was easy to find.

Ciment menu and prices: is it good value?
The menu at Ciment ranges from pasta to risotto to pizza, and it's generally good value. I heard it's famous among Chungnam National University students as a great place to eat!!
There were so many kinds of Western dishes that choosing was honestly really hard,, everything looked delicious!! Once I saw the prices, I understood right away why it's so popular with students.

Atmosphere and table kiosk ordering at Ciment
The inside of Ciment is fairly clean, and you order and pay in one go at the kiosk on the table. You don't have to call a staff member, so it's really convenient.
The place isn't huge, but the tables are spaced widely apart, so it looked like a really good spot for friends or couples!

Drink: grapefruit ade
Ciment has beer and ades, and we tried the refreshing grapefruit ade! It came out before the food, and it was sweet and tangy and really good!

Three dishes for two at Ciment: enough food?
It was just me and my boyfriend, but we both eat quite a lot, so we ordered three dishes at Ciment: pasta, risotto and pizza. The prices were really low, so I thought the portions would be small, but there was so much food that I was shocked!
With prices going up these days, ordering like this elsewhere would be really expensive, but at Ciment it still felt really cheap.

The risotto and pasta came out first, and they looked so good! Honestly I don't remember exactly what I ordered, but one was an oil-based meat pasta, and I think the risotto was a seafood tomato risotto!

Seafood tomato risotto: mildly spicy, made for Korean tastes
The seafood tomato risotto at Ciment had way more seafood than I expected, and the tomato sauce was slightly spicy, which felt just right for Korean tastes. The rice was cooked nicely too, and picking out the squid and shrimp was fun!!! I was surprised that the seafood was all tasty, too.

Beef belly oil pasta: perilla leaves are the secret
The oil pasta at Ciment had more beef belly than I expected, and the perilla leaves (kkaennip) on top were the kick. The aglio e olio sauce went well with the noodles too!
The perilla leaves went so well with the pasta, such a great pairing! It felt like a pasta that could get a bit heavy was made richer thanks to the perilla and the meat!!?!

Half-and-half pizza: cheese plus salad and meat
Ciment sells several kinds of pizza, and you can order them half-and-half, which I really liked too! We ordered half cheese pizza and half pizza topped with salad and meat. It was a tortilla-style pizza, and it was tasty too!!!
Is Ciment in Gung-dong worth a return visit?
I enjoyed Ciment so much, more than I have in a long time, that I want to visit again next time! If you're looking for a great pasta place in Gung-dong, try Ciment! The value is really good, so I recommend it especially to university students.
