A Wondang café for going with your parents: what is Baedagol Bakery House like?
Baedagol Bakery House (배다골베이커리하우스) is a large bakery café at 123 Hoguk-ro 1121beon-gil, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea. It is open every day from 10:00 to 21:00 (last order 30 minutes before closing). It has its own parking lot, separate men's and women's restrooms, takeout, Wi-Fi and high chairs.
It had been a while, so I took my parents out for a drive and a relaxed time together. I couldn't decide where to go, and ended up at Baedagol Bakery House, a Wondang café in Deogyang-gu, Goyang. It's a big bakery café surrounded by lush greenery, and it's the kind of place that suits everyone, from our parents' generation to younger crowds.

Green garden, white hydrangeas and the outdoor terrace
Past the parking lot in front of the building, the wide, well-kept garden near the entrance and the white hydrangeas in full bloom were the healing point for me. The outdoor terrace is spacious too, and the tables are spaced out comfortably.
The sun wasn't harsh the day I went, so some people were enjoying the outdoor vibe. Just walking through the garden, with its green trees and colorful flowers, felt like the stress of the city melting away. My parents started taking photos from the entrance, saying how pretty the garden was, and I thought, yes, bringing them here was the right call.
Indoor atmosphere and finding a seat
The interior is clean and stylish, and through the floor-to-ceiling windows you can see the whole garden outside. Inside feels open and airy too.
It was crowded, so you need to grab a seat first. And yes, today was busy again.

A smart showcase that opens at the press of a button
In the bakery display area, Baedagol Bakery House has smart showcases with automatic doors, so the bread is stored hygienically without worry about dust or foreign matter.

The door opens when you press a button, so I made my choice with my eyes first and then took the bread out. The showcase was full of all kinds of bakery items, from dessert cupcakes topped with fresh strawberries to a mango croissant topped with a whole fresh mango, which is in season right now.

On one side of the shop, fresh fruit like mango and plums was kept in a dedicated fridge. Baedagol Bakery House is always known for its seasonal fresh-fruit menu.

Counter products, the self bar and 10% off drinks
After choosing bread, I ordered drinks. In front of the counter at Baedagol Bakery House there were various olive oils, balsamic dressings and jams on display that you can buy. There's also a follow event: add their Instagram or KakaoTalk channel and you get 10% off drinks at all times.
The self bar had cold water with lemon floating in it, and bags for packing your bread to go yourself.
How do the salt bread, olive ciabatta and decaf caramel macchiato taste?
There were so many tempting things that I agonized for a while, and this is what I finally ordered.

- Iced café latte
- Iced decaf caramel macchiato
- Salt bread
- Olive ciabatta
The drinks and bread came out, and I took a bite of the salt bread (소금빵, a buttery roll topped with coarse salt) I'd been looking forward to. The outside was very crispy. Inside, the butter pocket had formed nicely, and it was chewy yet soft.

The nutty butter flavor that builds as you chew went well with the saltiness of the coarse salt on top. The iced café latte had a cool, smooth milky taste, with a good balance between nuttiness and milk.
The iced decaf caramel macchiato, which I ordered for my parents who prefer sweet coffee, had a subtle, deep sweetness that felt refined. Since Baedagol Bakery House has a decaf bean option, you can enjoy a sweet coffee break in the late afternoon or evening without worrying about caffeine.

A Wondang café I recommend for a family outing
Sharing tasty bread and coffee while looking at the beautiful garden view and chatting, I lost track of time. The staff were friendly too, and the inside is kept clean and tidy, so it's comfortable to use.

I enjoyed the tasty salt bread, the olive ciabatta and the decaf drink. If you're looking for a café near Seoul with easy parking and a pretty garden, or you want a relaxing, healing time with your beloved parents or family, visit Baedagol Bakery House in Wondang.
