Suwon shaman shrine for pre-wedding compatibility: Hyeonnyeo Sindang

Things haven't been great lately, and since I'm in the middle of wedding prep now, I wanted to check my compatibility with my partner — so I visited a shaman shrine in Suwon called Hyeonnyeo Sindang (현녀신당) and I'm bringing you that story.

How do you get from Suwon Station to Hyeonnyeo Sindang?

Hyeonnyeo Sindang is at 11 Gatmaesan-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, about 623m from Exit 9 of Suwon Station, so it's an easy walk. It's open daily from 09:00 to 21:00.

I had errands at AK Plaza near Suwon Station, and I noticed there's a 3-hour parking ticket available on the app. So I parked there and walked over.

You just head out toward Exit 9 of Suwon Station and keep walking. Turn right at Sangmu Sushi and keep going, and once you spot Lucky Mart, you're almost there haha.

How do you book a reading at Hyeonnyeo Sindang?

It's easiest to book Hyeonnyeo Sindang by text. Since the shaman might be mid-session, if you text the phone number she'll reply kindly. I booked a week ahead and visited.

Do you need to prepare questions before your first shaman reading?

Since this was both my first time at a Suwon shaman shrine and my first shaman reading ever, I nervously wrote down questions beforehand. Turns out — I didn't need to. I hadn't asked the shaman anything, but she brought up most of what I'd written down on her own.

Walking out after finishing the session at Hyeonnyeo Sindang, I felt like the heaviness that had been sitting in my chest all this time suddenly lifted. Once that weight was off my mind, my attitude toward what's coming ahead became a lot more positive, and it felt like we both got a chance to reflect on what we each need to work on.
