I went to Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel in Amsa for an early lunch. Since we came a little early, we could chat and eat at a relaxed pace. The staff grilled the eel for us from start to finish, which was so convenient. They laid out the golden-grilled eel in bite-size pieces, so I could focus on eating without worrying about the grill. It's an Amsa eel spot I'd happily recommend.

A spacious, comfortable room that's good for family meals too
Inside, Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel was spacious and pleasant. The tables are great for a leisurely meal, and I had a comfortable lunch.

This time it was just the two of us, but I thought it would also be nice to come back with family for dinner. If you're looking for a dinner place or a family gathering spot in Amsa, this could be a useful reference. Groups are welcome too, so it's worth remembering as a group meal spot near Amsa Station. Being able to park right in front was convenient as well.
Menu and the price of 1kg eel for two

The main attraction at Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel is clearly the grilled eel, and we ordered 1kg for ₩59,000. There's also grilled abalone, grilled king prawns, grilled scallops (seasonal), steamed oysters (seasonal), eel chuoetang (a thick stew made with eel), jjageuri kimchi stew, oksimi (rice-flour dumpling soup), janchi guksu (banquet noodles) and muk sabal (acorn jelly noodle bowl). Plenty of hearty meal options!
Eel grilled for you from start to finish
And what I loved most: they grill it for you from start to finish. When I grill eel myself, I keep checking whether I'm burning it or whether it's actually cooked through. Here, the staff handle it all, so none of that worry.

They lined up the perfectly cooked eel in easy-to-eat rows and told us when it was ready, so we could dig in comfortably. If you're looking for an Amsa eel restaurant that does the grilling for you, you'll probably like this.
How does the eel taste? Golden, crispy outside, moist inside, almost no small bones
The grilled eel at Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel was crispy outside and moist inside, just the crispy-outside, juicy-inside texture you want. They grilled it to a lovely golden color. I especially felt it had been well prepared. Small bones can be bothersome when eating eel, but that day I barely noticed any.
Since I barely felt any small bones, I thought it would be nice to come back with kids next time.
Ginger, chives and wraps: lots of ways to enjoy it
Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel sets out ginger, sauce, wrap vegetables and chives, so we ate the eel in several combinations.

I dipped it in sauce, sometimes added ginger, and sometimes wrapped it with chives.

The same eel is fun to eat in different ways depending on what you pair it with.

You can also grab more side dishes from the self-serve bar, which made it easy to get as much as we needed.
Rich eel soup and finishing extras
The eel soup they served with the meal is memorable too. The broth was very rich, and one spoonful tasted like it was doing me good. Sipping the warm broth between bites of grilled eel was great.

To finish, they also grilled king oyster mushrooms and rice cake for us as a free extra. With the mushrooms and rice cake after the eel, two of us finishing 1kg left us quite full. The meal menu looked varied and I wanted to add something, but I was too full, which was a shame. Next time I'd like to try other meal dishes too.

They even gave us eel extract to take, so we left patting our bellies. Eating something genuinely good for you felt hearty and put me in a great mood.
Takeout and review event
The restaurant also advertised a review event: write a review and get grilled king prawns. We were too full to take part, but grilled prawns sound so good!! Takeout is available too, so if you're after takeout eel in Amsa, ask about the set and price when you order.
Overall
- They grilled the eel from start to finish, so we ate comfortably.
- Golden outside, moist inside, with almost no small bones.
- The spacious, pleasant room and parking in front make it good for family meals.
- Rich eel soup plus free grilled mushrooms and rice cake made it filling.
A relaxed lunch at Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel. It's an Amsa eel spot I'd like to visit again with my family.
