Korean pub in Hapjeong with matcha slush makgeolli: Sujak Hapjeong

Sujak Hapjeong (수작 합정점) is a Korean-style pub on Dongmak-ro 7-gil in Mapo, Seoul, a short walk from Hapjeong Station. At Sujak Hapjeong, which was full even on a weekday, the writer tried the new matcha makgeolli, heart skewers, juicy fried suyuk (boiled pork) and cheese potato pancake, and the smoothie-like matcha makgeolli was the highlight. With most dishes at 10,000–20,000 won and many kinds of dessert makgeolli, Sujak Hapjeong is an easy pick even for light drinkers.

Post-Chuseok curry set at India Darbar, a Sillim Indian restaurant

India Darbar is an Indian restaurant on the second floor of a building on Sillim-ro in Gwanak, Seoul, a short walk from Exit 3 of Sillim Station. To cut the richness of Chuseok holiday pancakes, the writer ordered the set menu of lassi, tandoori chicken, naan and chicken masala, and the chicken masala came with big pieces of chicken at about the heat level of spicy Jin Ramyeon. With plenty of Indian regulars eating there too, India Darbar is a good beginner's curry spot where the spices never feel heavy.
