1986 Shibuya Burger in Hoegi: what kind of place is it?

I like handmade burgers anyway, and I'd heard it's already famous among Kyung Hee students as a Hoegi favorite, so I went in with high hopes.
The moment I walked in, it felt like I was on a trip in Japan! I could see why it's called Shibuya Burger.
Japanese-style interior and seating

The inside is styled like a little burger joint in Shibuya, Japan. The cute props and decor were fun to look around at, and great for photos too. The tables are spaced widely, so it looks good for solo meals as well as dates or hanging out with friends 😊 I could see why students hunting for a Kyung Hee spot come here so often.

Menu and prices
The menu had a really wide choice. The Shibuya Golden Hash Burger, the Iron Plate Cheese Burger, the Golden Jambon Burger... just the names sound delicious!

With so many options it can be hard to decide, but luckily there's a separate Best Menu TOP 5, which made choosing easier.

Prices aren't a burden, so a single burger is fine, and the sets with fries and a drink added are decent value too.

I really love cheese, so I ordered the Shibuya Iron Plate Nobiru Cheese Burger without a second thought 🧀

For sides there were cheese sticks, potato wedges and potato croquettes, but I ended up going with the Shibuya Chili Cheese Fries!
Drinks ranged from soda to beer. I picked a Zero Cider (a lemon-lime soda).
What's at the charming self-serve bar?

One of the biggest surprises at 1986 Shibuya Burger was the self-serve bar. You usually picture a plain corner, but this felt like a cozy café. How can it be this charming..?

They give you capsule coffee if you write a Naver review (Korea's main search and review platform), so no reason not to!

The self-serve zone also had barley tea,

jalapeños, pickles and all kinds of sauces,

plus disposable gloves, wet wipes, knives and forks,

and even sweet snacks for when you need a sugar recharge. You can feel the owner's attention to detail 👍
Free potato chips, for real?

And the thing that surprised me most was the free potato chips 🤤 I didn't expect much since they're free, but the quality was far better than I thought.

They're crispy and salty, and I kept reaching for them while waiting for the burger. In the end I refilled twice... 🤣 I think this is the first time I've seen a perk like this at a Hoegi restaurant.

I sat in the front-row seat where you can see a Totoro, and the Shibuya Iron Plate Nobiru Cheese Burger, chili cheese fries and Zero Cider arrived.

I'd also brought over a little jalapeño and a few sauces,
The Shibuya Iron Plate Nobiru Cheese Burger: a looker

It looked exactly like the photos. It's piled with so much cheese that anyone who loves cheese will definitely like it 😊
It was overwhelming at first glance, and the cheese covering the burger and dripping down looked so tempting.

One bite and I understood why it's called a top handmade burger spot in Hoegi. The juicy, thick steak patty and the rich cheese flavor go really well together.
Burger + patty + cheese is cheating
I usually only eat cheeseburgers with cheese inside the patty, so having cheese piled on like this had a different charm.

If you love cheese, definitely try the Shibuya Iron Plate Nobiru Cheese Burger 💛
The burger + steak patty + cheese combo was seriously powerful!!
The chili cheese fries are recommended too

The Shibuya Chili Cheese Fries I ordered alongside were satisfying too. Crispy fries topped with plenty of chili and cheese, and the portion was bigger than I expected.
They're a good side with the burger, and enough to share even if two people come. Good value and tasty, so 100% I'd order them again!
