Suwanjigu Form is a Western restaurant with a relaxed, stylish mood in the Suwan district of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. The meal ran from a seasonal fig and peach salad to a heavy, deeply savoury ragu pasta, beef tartare served with bread, and a melon sorbet to finish, and it was all worth a return visit. Suwanjigu Form is the kind of place to reserve in advance for an anniversary or a date-night dinner.
Hwanggeum Hoe Pocha Gwangju Wolsan Branch is an old-school seafood restaurant in Wolsan-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju. A 1pm visit brought assorted sashimi and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) with somyeon noodles, a ₩1,900 Cass beer at lunch and shrimp ramyeon as a review gift. The side dish spread, bite-sized sashimi and attentive service at Hwanggeum Hoe Pocha make it easy to recommend another visit.
