Mackerel is something I eat regularly. Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch, a great spot for grilled fish in Suwon.

Hours: 11:00–21:30 The parking lot is very large, so it is easy to use. Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch is quite large and neat-looking from the outside, so you can spot it at a glance even from a distance.

It is right in front of Pureun Jidae Intersection, next to Tap-dong Citizens’ Farm, and the parking lot is very spacious.

Live mackerel and spacious tables for 4 to 6

The mackerel swimming energetically in the tank! Because they prepare fresh live mackerel on the spot, you can also have mackerel sashimi and sushi. The interior is spacious, with tables for four to six people—just right for family meals or group gatherings.

The basic spoons and napkins are kept in the utensil holder. Soy sauce and wasabi are available too, so you can enjoy them however you like.

Once you order, the basic side dishes arrive first in brass bowls: young-radish kimchi, seasoned cucumber, seasoned perilla leaves, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and seasoned bellflower root. If you need more, use the self-service bar in the middle of the restaurant. The gochujang bulgogi had a light smoky aroma, with its sweet-and-spicy sauce soaking right into the meat, so it made for a satisfying combination with the fish dishes.

A full meal of grilled and braised mackerel

Everything was set out quickly as soon as we ordered. We ordered for the number of people, so three bowls of rice came out~ They gave us seaweed soup in a large bowl, which we divided into smaller bowls.

The braised cutlassfish was moist and melted softly when I tasted the flesh. The mackerel was really tender and mild. It is a size and flavor that everyone should enjoy, no matter their preferences. Good plain, good dipped in soy sauce! It was such a rice-stealer that I added another bowl of rice 🫶 If you are looking for a mild grilled-fish meal that sits comfortably, I recommend Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch in Tap-dong, West Suwon.

Refill the side dishes as much as you want

There was a self-service bar where you could freely get more of eight side dishes: fresh kimchi, young-radish kimchi, seasoned cucumber, seasoned chamnamul greens, seasoned bellflower root, seasoned radish, and japchae. Every side dish can be refilled, so you can take as much as you want.

The grilled fish is delicious, so there were lots of older diners. Recommended for family gatherings too.
