After a Songdo date with my boyfriend, I was craving something spicy and rich, so we went to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo Branch (언양닭칼국수) in Songdo Zone 1. It's famous for 24-hour aged, house-made noodles, and word is that both the noodles and the broth are something special!! ◟( ˘ ³˘)◞ ♡
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo: location, hours and parking
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo Branch is at 160-15 Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, units 129-132, on the one-way street by the back door of Songdo Food Mart. It's open daily 11:00-21:00, with last order at 20:30.
You can park for free in the underground lot. The lot entrance and the restaurant are on the one-way side, opposite the tree-lined street.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo?
The entrance has a traditional hanok (Korean house) feel, and it's clean and the restaurant is really big!! I think it would be great for family visits or groups too.

The inside is really spacious and pleasant. There are window counter seats, so it seems great for eating solo, plus 4-person tables and 8-person tables made by joining two 4-person tables, so groups can come comfortably.

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu menu
The menu has a wide range of meals, including chicken kalguksu, dakgomtang (chicken soup), Eonyang-style kalguksu, spicy braised chicken with chili and soy-braised chicken, along with chewy dumplings and suyuk (boiled pork slices) to share :)
Add-ons include extra chicken, an extra-large portion and steamed rice, but the portions are so generous you probably won't need any haha

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu self-serve bar and two kinds of kimchi
There's a self-bar too!! You can grab aprons, pickled radish, kimchi, perilla powder, tongs, scissors and whatever else you need. It was kept really clean and hygienic.
The kimchi is split into regular and less spicy, so I think it works for small kids too!! The regular kimchi is spicy, but even I, who can't handle heat, ate it just fine :)

Seated!! Every table has small plates, paper cups, pepper, salt and daedagi (seasoned chili paste), so you can add them to your own taste!

Our date-night order: chicken kalguksu, chewy dumplings and chogye guksu
We ordered the chicken kalguksu, Eonyang-style noodles with a whole big chicken in it, the chewy dumplings, which were so chewy-chewy-chewy they stuck in my memory, and the cool, sweet and sour chogye guksu, perfect for a hot summer :)

In the photo the bowl doesn't look big, but it's not a bowl, it comes in a whole vessel, haha. It's really huge. The portion is insane and the quality is great too, so I could only gasp the moment I saw it.

Are the 6,000-won chewy dumplings worth ordering?
For ₩6,000 you get a generous plate of handmade dumplings, with chewy wrappers stuffed full, so you really should order them. They're not just chewy, they're chew-chew-chewy, which makes eating them fun haha. And they pair with the kalguksu like best friends.
How does the whole-chicken kalguksu taste?
The chicken kalguksu has a plump, meaty whole chicken splashing in it, with the noodles packed underneath. You absolutely have to try this one.

I'd never had such a spicy, rich, deep kalguksu before. It was so good, and the noodles were soft yet chewy.

When I pulled the meat off the bones there was a whole heap of it, so moist and tender, and it went so well with the noodles!! My boyfriend and I both gave it a thumbs-up, a really memorable dish!! I think I'll be craving it a lot in the cold winter.
Trying icy chogye guksu for the first time
The chogye guksu here is a summer treat: chewy noodles in a sweet and sour broth with ice slush in it. If you have this one this summer, summer is done!!
Honestly this was my first time ever having chogye guksu and I had no idea it was this good,, my boyfriend also couldn't stop praising it as perfect haha (he'd been wanting chogye guksu, so my guy's wish came true)

Why Eonyang's noodles are so chewy, and how long they take
They say the noodles are chewy and springy because the aged noodles are boiled fresh every 15 minutes!! So cooking takes about 15 minutes, and sometimes it comes out faster.

They knead the kalguksu noodles by hand and age them for a day, and they make the kimchi fresh every day too, and it really went well with the noodles!! If you like spicy, kick-y kalguksu, they say putting kimchi in like daedagi makes it even better!! A kalguksu place that puts this much care into one bowl,, I'll admit I got a little moved.

Is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu a good Songdo date-night restaurant?
There's a reason the kalguksu is this tasty and high quality. The rich broth and tender meat are the best part, so you keep eating!! By the end I was picking up the whole bowl and drinking it hahaha
It already has a great reputation so I was curious, and I was totally satisfied; the quality is really impressive. Thanks to the chicken kalguksu, made with 24-hour aged house-made noodles and a deep perilla and chicken broth, we had a hearty, restorative meal!
