Jojo Triple Street Branch is a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant at Songdo Triple Street in Yeonsu, Incheon, serving okonomiyaki, monjayaki and yakisoba on a griddle at each table. On a weekend date night, the writer joined the Jojo waitlist at the kiosk, waited at a nearby arcade, then ate the Jojo Signature Set for 2; the okonomiyaki came with a flag bearing the nickname entered when ordering, and the food arrived quickly. Jojo Triple Street Branch is a great pick for couples who want a proper Japanese teppanyaki meal.

Evening Songdo café: cold brew & chocolate scoop cake, Standard Square

Standard Square (스탠다드스퀘어) is a dessert café known for its cookies and coffee, located on Keonbensia-daero in Songdo, Incheon. On an evening date in Songdo, the writer returned to Standard Square for the new chocolate scoop cake with a cold brew and an Ethiopian drip coffee, and was happy with the blue-and-white interior, the friendly staff and the dense yet moist cake. For a Songdo date café that does both coffee and dessert well, Standard Square is worth recommending.

Incheon City Hall abalone restaurant for Dad's recovery: Jeonbokchon

Jeonbokchon (전복촌) is a Korean restaurant on Yesul-ro near Incheon City Hall in Namdong, Incheon, serving course meals made with live abalone from Wando. To help her dad recover from a hiking injury, the writer booked a table for 4 with her Wando-born parents and her brother and ordered the Bon Jeongsik course, which brought porridge, raw fish, braised abalone, charcoal-brazier bulgogi and seaweed soup to the table all at once, fresh and with no fishy taste. Jeonbokchon's Bon Jeongsik is a satisfying abalone course for a restorative meal with parents.

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch (언양닭칼국수 인천송도점) is a chicken kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Songdo Zone 1, Yeonsu, Incheon, that makes its own noodles and ages them for 24 hours. On a Songdo date, the writer and her boyfriend ordered chicken kalguksu with a whole chicken in the bowl, 6,000-won chewy dumplings and chogye guksu (chilled chicken noodles), and both gave a thumbs-up to the first-ever chogye guksu and the spicy, rich kalguksu broth. For couples who want a generous, carefully made bowl, Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo is a satisfying choice.

Dessert café at Songdo outlet: Wunder Gato tasting just like Bucheon

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch is an affogato and dessert café in the B1 Food Square of Songhyeona (Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo) in Yeonsu, Incheon, a branch of Wunder Coffee Bar, which started in Yeokgok, Bucheon. The writer came back for the Wunder Gato (affogato) she fell for in Bucheon, ordered alongside a Wunder Coffee (Einspänner) and an Americano and kaimak set, and found it tasted just as it did in Bucheon. Wunder Coffee Bar Songdo is a Songhyeona dessert café where the coffee, ice cream and kaimak all satisfied without a single letdown.

Ssam bap near Gil Hospital, Incheon: homegrown lettuce wraps, Chagane

Chagane Ssam Bap (차가네쌈밥) is a ssam bap (rice with leafy-green wraps) restaurant near Gachon University Gil Medical Center in Namdong, Incheon, known for lettuce it grows itself and a handmade ssamjang (dipping paste) sweetened with apple instead of artificial seasoning. The writer ordered pork ssam bap for two, served with seaweed soup, kimchi pancake, japchae (glass noodles) and snail ssamjang, skipped one bowl of rice for ₩1,000 off, and still left full. Chagane Ssam Bap's greens and ssamjang were good enough to turn a perilla-leaf loyalist into a lettuce fan.

Guwol-dong brunch restaurant, perilla shrimp cream pasta: Withwich

Withwich is a Western-style brunch restaurant in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, serving brunch, sandwiches, wood-fired pizza and pasta. Namdong, Incheon hot pot lunch on wedding hanbok fitting day: Guksuhwa

Guksuhwa is a Korean restaurant in a standalone building on Sorae-ro in Namdong, Incheon, known for its signature king galbi noodle hot pot. On the day of a wedding hanbok fitting, the writer booked an 11 a.m. table for four with both mothers and her fiancé and ordered the king galbi noodle hot pot, Korean pork and minari crispy jeon and dumplings (7,000 won), finishing with kalguksu noodles and fried rice. With green views, partitioned seats and a large free parking lot, Guksuhwa pleased even picky mothers and is worth a return visit.

Pork bone restaurant in Nonhyeon, Incheon: Shin Ramyun-level braise

Cheongchun Bulppyeojjim Gamjatang Incheon Nonhyeon Branch is a Korean restaurant in Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, specializing in gamjatang (pork bone potato stew), pork bone hangover soup and braised pork bones. Having only ever eaten gamjatang, the writer tried braised pork bones for the first time: spicy bulppyeojjim for 2 at Shin Ramyun spice level, icy muksabal (acorn jelly soup) served in a makgeolli cup, and steamed egg. The bulppyeojjim was thick-cut, meaty and generous, and the writer's verdict was "120% coming back."

Bulgogi restaurant near Incheon court: lunch date for 2, Dongchuwon

Dongchuwon Bulgogi (동추원불고기) is a Korean restaurant in Hagik-dong, Michuhol, Incheon, near the Incheon court and prosecutors' office, serving Seoul-style bulgogi cooked in a shallow broth. On a lunch date, the writer ordered the signature old-style bulgogi for 2 with an ongsimi (potato dumpling) add-on, ate it both grilled and shabu-style in the broth, and enjoyed generous vegetables and side dishes, a full-size dessert naengmyeon (cold noodles) and a free gift of golden baked eggs. The old-style bulgogi at Dongchuwon Bulgogi was clean-tasting and never overpowering, so good it became the writer's "bulgogi of a lifetime."

Namdong, Incheon hot pot dinner for two with minari jeon: Guksuhwa

Guksuhwa (국수화) is a Korean restaurant serving hot pot and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) on Sorae-ro in Namdong, Incheon. Two of us booked a 6 PM dinner at a window seat and ordered the king galbi noodle hot pot for 2 and a crispy Korean pork minari jeon (water dropwort pancake), then finished with kalguksu and self-made fried rice. Guksuhwa is tidy and generous, a great choice for taking your parents out to dinner.
