Chinatown pizza pub with QR ordering and 8% DIPA: Incheon Beer Tiger

Hi there, fellow foodies! This time I went with my boyfriend to Incheon Beer Tiger (인천맥주 호랑이), near Incheon Chinatown.

Incheon Beer Tiger is open 16:30-24:00 Tuesday to Friday and 13:30-24:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Last order is 23:30 every day. It is closed every Monday.

It's a place where you can enjoy pizza and beer together, and the space has a unique vibe and hosts live performances, so I'd been curious about it for a while. We went a bit late this time, so sadly we missed the show, but we still enjoyed tasty pizza and beer in that special atmosphere.

What is the atmosphere like at Incheon Beer Tiger?

The ceiling is high and the interior is spacious, so it feels different from an ordinary pub. The first things I noticed when I walked in were the high ceiling and the unusual interior. It's big enough that it never felt stuffy. There were tables and chairs in several areas, and bar-style seats on one side.

I especially liked that one wall is a full glass window. You get a clear view outside, so even sitting indoors it feels open. The lighting, brick walls and props placed here and there come together for a pretty stylish mood. The space was even more impressive in person than in photos.

There were some foreign guests inside too, and with everyone casually enjoying their beer it felt even more exotic. It's less of a rowdy pub and more a place to spend time enjoying the music and the mood.

Go late and you may miss the live show

I hear Incheon Beer Tiger also hosts live performances. But maybe because we arrived a little late, there was no show that day. Next time I think it would be fun to time our visit for when a performance is on. Enjoying beer with music feels like this place's special charm.

You check the menu and order through the QR code on your table, then pay when you leave. I found it convenient, since you don't have to call a staff member every time you order.

We first ordered the pepperoni pizza and two glasses of Gaehangno Lager. Pizza and beer always go well together, right? Eating them in such a nice space made them taste even better.

Small plates, knives, forks and other tableware are self-serve at the self bar. You just grab as much as you need, so it was easy.

How big is the pepperoni pizza, and how does it taste?

The pepperoni pizza (₩19,000) was bigger than I expected, with pepperoni generously spread across the whole pie. Can you tell the size from the photo? I was happy it came out so big. It was cut into several slices, and the look of the cheese and pepperoni together was appetizing right away.

The pepperoni wasn't just scattered here and there but covered the entire pizza, so every slice had plenty of toppings. The golden-baked edge, melted cheese and salty pepperoni went well together.

The salty, savory pepperoni flavor spread through my mouth, and the richness of the cheese made it a good snack for beer. Eating the dough and toppings together was filling too. You could enjoy the pizza as is, or add the Tabasco sauce set out beside it.

Above all, the pizza is generous enough to share between two. Even if you come just for a beer, adding pizza would cover both a meal and drinks in one go.

What are Gaehangno Lager and Sleepwalker DIPA like?

Gaehangno Lager (₩7,000) has a name that feels very Incheon, and it went well with the salty pepperoni pizza. Taking a bite of pizza and then a sip of the chilled beer was, as expected, a great combo.

The beer glasses were hefty ones with handles, which really set the mood. With pizza and two glasses of beer on the table, the whole spread made me happy just looking at it. After finishing the Gaehangno Lager I got curious about another beer, so I ordered a Sleepwalker DIPA (몽유병 DIPA).

Sleepwalker DIPA (₩9,800) is a hazy double IPA at 8.0% ABV. The menu describes it as a high-strength hazy IPA with rich hop aroma. It's a different style from an ordinary lager, so it's worth a look when you want to try something new.

If you like hop aroma, this one is worth keeping an eye on. At 8.0% it's stronger than the beer you usually drink, so it's good to know that before ordering. We moved from the Gaehangno Lager to a new beer and enjoyed two different styles.

If you're looking for a date spot near Incheon Chinatown or Dongincheon, or a place for pizza and craft beer together, give Incheon Beer Tiger a look. It suited a relaxed chat over beer in an unusual space.

We filled our stomachs, enjoyed the beer and headed home happy. Next time I'd like to visit during a live show and experience a different atmosphere from this day :)
