Sangsu sports bar for Doosan–LG baseball and cream beer: Kkoko Land

In short

Kkoko Land (꼬꼬랜드) is a chicken-focused outdoor-style bar on Wausan-ro in Mapo, Seoul, between Sangsu Station and Hongik Univ. Station. On a night when the Doosan vs. LG baseball game was on the big screen, the blogger came to Kkoko Land for a second round after a barbecue dinner, ordered the signature fresh cream draft beer and the signature charcoal-grilled Kkoko chicken neck (sauced, 24,000 won), and liked it wrapped in tortillas so much that they ordered extra tortillas. Kkoko Land is a great group spot for watching sports, sitting under the retractable ceiling and enjoying the patio-style atmosphere.

I absolutely love outdoor-bar, terrace vibes. Don't you feel like spring and fall in Korea have gotten so short? It's a shame there's so little time to enjoy them. I went just yesterday to a Hongdae bar where I could finally feel that outdoor-bar atmosphere with friends! This is a fresh-off-the-press review. The name alone tells you chicken is the main thing here: let me introduce Kkoko Land (꼬꼬랜드), a Hongdae outdoor-style bar and a great spot for chicken and beer!

Where is Kkoko Land near Sangsu Station, and what are the hours?

Kkoko Land is at 18 Wausan-ro 19-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, floors 1–2, 480 m from Sangsu Station Exit 2. It's open Sat–Sun 12:00–02:00 and Mon–Fri 16:00–02:00, with last order at 01:00.

It's easy to walk to from Sangsu Station, and not a hassle to get to from the Hongdae side either. The entrance caught my eye right away! A stone wall and wooden sign give it a unique feel, and there's even a water wheel that actually turns, so it feels like stepping into somewhere different. Even among Hongdae outdoor bars, the offbeat atmosphere from the entrance was impressive :)

What is the atmosphere like inside Kkoko Land?

Kkoko Land, the Hongdae bar with a giraffe friend to greet you, is great for outdoor vibes, but the inside was charming too!

Kkoko Land packed with customers

When I walked in, that huge space was packed with customers! It was full of energy, just what you'd expect from a Hongdae outdoor bar, and perfect for a drink with friends. The owner and the staff were also so kind that I was in a good mood the whole time. A crowded place is crowded for a reason, right?

Can you watch baseball or soccer games at Kkoko Land?

Kkoko Land has big screens, so it's perfect for a drink while watching baseball or soccer. That day the huge place was full, with lots of customers in jerseys, and it turned out there was a Doosan vs. LG game, haha. I'm a soccer fan myself, so I totally get how baseball fans feel... Next time I'm coming here to watch soccer!!

Enjoying good snacks with friends while focusing on the game, I think you'd really feel the atmosphere of being at the stadium ⚾️ If you love soccer or baseball, this Hongdae bar will be even more satisfying! Since you get patio vibes and sports viewing together, I'd recommend it as a group meetup spot too :)

Private seats at Kkoko Land for a quieter drink

Kkoko Land also has private seats here and there for people who want to drink quietly, so check the photos below ↓

Kkoko Land's 2nd-floor seats overlooking the bar

The 2nd floor has seats where you can eat looking down (?) like this, which was fun.

It had just opened, so when I visited yesterday things weren't fully set up yet, but from today the 2nd floor is open too 👍 It can hold a lot of people as well.

I took a photo of this painting on the ceiling because it was a little scary and funny at the same time.

Does the ceiling at Kkoko Land really open?

Kkoko Land has a retractable ceiling, so you can enjoy an outdoor feel even indoors. In the middle of drinking, the ceiling suddenly slid open!! 😲

With the ceiling wide open, it felt like a domed stadium opening up ⚾️ It was amazing to enjoy that open-air atmosphere while still being indoors. I think this kind of unusual charm is why it's so popular as a Hongdae outdoor bar!

A welcome drink for each of us~

Kkoko Land welcome drink and chicken drumstick side

The basic side dish is a chicken drumstick, fitting for a place called Kkoko Land! They also gave each person one welcome drink, a yellowish tropical-style beverage. Getting a thoughtful touch like this at a bar just puts you in a good mood, right? It let us start the night happily :)

Kkoko Land's signature fresh cream draft beer

Kkoko Land's signature drink is the fresh cream draft beer, topped with soft fresh cream 🍺 I'd been curious about how it looked since before going, and since I'd come to Kkoko Land, I ordered the signature fresh cream draft beer first :)

Having a drink with tasty snacks out in the open made me forget my stuffy daily life for a bit. This is why we seek out outdoor bars on nice days!

Charcoal-grilled sauced chicken neck for ₩24,000: how does it taste?

Kkoko Land's signature charcoal Kkokko chicken neck (sauced) is ₩24,000, made with chicken neck, a special cut, grilled over charcoal and coated in sauce. We'd already had a hearty meal at a BBQ restaurant, so we ordered only the chicken neck, but I was curious about the fried chicken and the kettle odeng (fish cake soup) too!

It comes piled high on the plate, topped with Cheongyang chili peppers, and looks very appetizing.

It's grilled over charcoal so the smoky flavor really soaks in, and the spicy Cheongyang chilies went well as a beer snack. It was perfect with an ice-cold beer!

Charcoal sauced chicken neck with grilled corn and salad

The chewy texture of chicken neck is its charm! The more you chew, the more the charcoal aroma and the savory sauce come together. The grilled corn and salad served alongside went surprisingly well too. They cut the richness of the meat and eased the kick of the spicy sauce, so alternating was nice. A perfect combo for outdoor-bar snacking :)

Chicken neck wrapped in tortillas, so we ordered more tortillas

Best of all, putting cabbage or potato salad on a tortilla, topping it with the signature charcoal Kkokko chicken neck and wrapping it up was a special treat! Adding the tortilla to the chewy chicken neck gave a different texture, which made it even tastier. It was so good that we ended up ordering more tortillas 😋

A cool breeze, laughter from the tables around us, the baseball game and the clinking of glasses all added up to real outdoor-bar vibes 🍻

Is Kkoko Land in Sangsu worth a visit?

In short, Kkoko Land is a place where you can enjoy tasty snacks and drinks along with that special outdoor-bar atmosphere! It's great for a drink in the cool breeze, and with big screens showing soccer or baseball, it's perfect for a fun time with friends 🍻 If you're looking for a Seogyo-dong favorite or a Sangsu bar, I recommend Kkoko Land, the Hongdae outdoor bar with tasty snacks and fresh cream draft beer!
