What to order at Chat Baker: what I actually ate

Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café bakes its bread every day. They start the dough from scratch at dawn each day and bake it to sell. The dough is aged with natural sourdough without artificial additives, and the butter is said to be 100% milk butter with no margarine mixed in.

Iced flat white

For my drink at Chat Baker I ordered a flat white, which blends smooth microfoam milk with strong espresso. You can get it iced or hot, and it was so hot out that I chose iced. A flat white is supposedly stronger than a latte and smoother than a cappuccino, and that description was spot on! It was so good. Rich and nutty, I gulped it down in no time!

Mango cream croissant, ₩7,500

Chat Baker's mango cream croissant was so delicious it surprised me. First, the mango is fresh mango, so it's juicy and tasty on its own. The whipped cream is clean and not greasy at all, and the croissant is crisp with its layers intact, so the overall harmony was the best.

10,000-layer croissant, ₩5,800

The 10,000-layer croissant (만겹 크루아상) is a croissant stacked with crispy layers upon layers, the very croissant made famous by the baking show Cheonha Jebbang! Of course, Chat Baker's bread wasn't on the show, but that texture, that crunch-crunch-crunch, was totally there. It was so crackly that I finished it in no time.

Mocha bread, ₩3,900

Mocha bread (a coffee-flavored bun) with kaya jam, strong mocha aroma and all, is a must. Chat Baker's mocha bread is seriously huge but soft inside, and the mocha scent and flavor are so rich and nutty. Don't just eat it as is; you absolutely have to warm it up. Then everything from the wafting mocha smell to the taste is the best.

Butter scone, ₩3,500

Like crispy scones? Then I recommend Chat Baker's butter scone. I'm a person who loves super crunchy scones, so I loved this one so.much. It's crispiness itself! But it's soft inside too, so crunchy outside, moist inside. The butter flavor is nutty and rich.

Cheese ciabatta, ₩5,500

The cheese ciabatta is a chewy ciabatta loaded with cheese inside. The ciabatta is really soft and fluffy, and the salty cheese on top of its mild flavor makes it taste great.

Fresh corn loaf, ₩6,500

You have to try the loaves at Chat Baker. The fresh corn loaf has a lovely pop of real corn kernels, and the soft flavor of fresh bread itself really comes through. It's nutty, and the texture just makes you keep eating it!!
