Six years of ignoring my brows: why I chose hair stroke eyebrow tattoo

After getting an eyebrow tattoo long ago, the writer left her brows alone for 6 years, then decided on a natural-looking hair stroke eyebrow tattoo. It's been 6 years since my last brow tattoo and I just ignored my brows all that time.. I felt I couldn't keep living like this,, so I made up my mind to get my brows done again!!

I had a few reasons for hesitating, and one was those awkward few days after the procedure.. I just didn't think I could stand it. So I searched and searched, and what I found was the natural-looking hair stroke eyebrow tattoo!

Hair stroke is an eyebrow tattoo technique where fine lines are drawn one hair at a time in the direction your real brow hairs grow, so the result looks like real eyebrows. Because many thin, brow-like lines fill in the gaps, the natural texture of the brow stays alive and looks natural, or so I'm told. It's recommended for people with sparse brows or anyone who wants a result that blends in with their existing brows.

That's me, right? So now I needed an expert who does hair stroke brilliantly. There are plenty of studios in Seoul too, but I went to From Nana in Bucheon!

Where is From Nana in Bucheon, and where do you park?

From Nana is a stone's throw from Sangdong Station, so it's easy to find, and there's a parking lot in the building's basement if you come by car (not mechanical). The studio is on the 6th floor.

How does the hair stroke consultation and design work at From Nana?

When you arrive at From Nana, you first have a short consultation about the treatment and the brow shape.

The owner said she'd flexibly design my brows based on my face shape, brow shape and how much hair I have.

Go into this secret room and there's a comfy bed. First she sketches the design, swish swish~ and trims some of my brows too~

How painful is a hair stroke eyebrow tattoo, and how long does it take?

At From Nana, after the design she applies pink numbing cream and you wait about 10 minutes. She puts on this pink numbing cream and that's it, you just stay like this for 10 minutes.

The main session took about 40-50 minutes in total, and the final touch-up took about 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, you lie down on the bed and the owner carefully does the design work and the procedure. Thanks to the cream I barely felt any pain, though of course you feel something passing over your skin throughout. Now and then, when it touches softer skin, there's a slight tingle.

The owner draws hair~ by~ hair~, stitch~ by~ stitch~, so it doesn't finish super quickly. At the end you sit up to check the symmetry, and the touch-up goes swish swish.

My husband came along that day as my photographer, and the owner kindly set out snacks and drinks, so he could wait without any nagging (?) 🙃

Thin sparse brows: hair stroke before and after

Okay okay okay, now you need to see the big before and after. Drumroll please... this is what my original brows looked like.

The owner said I don't have no brow hair at all, but the hairs are super thin, so there were only traces left,,, My features aren't strong and bold, so if only my brows turned thick and cartoonish (like Shin-chan) it would look really awkward. So she made them look natural to suit my face, like this 🥹🥹🥹

Day 4 after the eyebrow tattoo: how did the color change?

Right after the hair stroke procedure there was some redness, but 4 days later they're turning a natural black-gray(?). If my brows were there-but-not-there before, now they've evolved into not-there-but-there haha They're changing naturally, just like my own brows haha 💕💕💕

I really, truly regret putting off the eyebrow tattoo for so long out of fear it would look awkward. I was told they might itch for a few days, but so far no issues at all!! I'll post another review with photos after a few weeks.
