A Beombak-dong lunch stop before Starfield Bucheon
Obongjip Beombak-jeom is a stir-fried octopus and bossam Korean restaurant at 43 Yangjinam-ro, Sosa-gu, Bucheon, Gyeonggi. This was the day we planned to go visit Starfield Bucheon, so I figured we should eat something solid beforehand. While looking up good restaurants in Beombak-dong, Bucheon, I found a place serving stir-fried octopus. I'd actually been craving it for a while, so it felt like perfect timing to finally go.

Where to park at Obongjip Beombak-jeom
We drove there, and while parking is available behind the building, since we came on a weekday for lunch there was also street parking available out front, so we parked there.

After parking and heading toward the front, we could see the new menu items and the set-table menus posted up.

There was also a weekday lunch special and a variety of popular menu items on display.

Inside Obongjip Beombak-jeom: seating and atmosphere
We finally headed inside, and wow, there were so many tables. It looked like a great spot for family gatherings or company dinners.

What's on the Obongjip Beombak-jeom menu
We sat down and looked over the menu, which was posted on the wall and also available on the kiosk. Since we were ordering through the kiosk anyway, we checked it there. The set menus included the Obongjip Special (regular or large), Octopus Special, Maesaengi Yeonpo Bossam, Nakji Bossam value set, Bossam Kalguksu value set, and Obong Octopus Sammhap, with extras like plain rice, rice balls, and fried rice.

There were also add-ons like butter rice, bossam pork, octopus (hot pot or soup), whole octopus, jugsari, bossam kimchi, pollack sashimi, salted seasoned pollack roe, and extra garlic sauce.
For bossam, there was the Obongjip Bossam.
For noodles, there was kal-nakji (cut octopus with noodles), Tuumba kal-nakji, clam kalguksu, and jaengban mak-guksu.
The lunch special included stir-fried grilled octopus, grilled octopus and pork stir-fry, grilled squid stir-fry, grilled squid and octopus stir-fry, grilled pork stir-fry, and even a bossam set meal.
For soups, they had maesaengi yeonpo-tang, spicy octopus hot pot, Obongjip clam soup, and gabrisal boiled pork hot pot.

For drinking snacks, there was grilled octopus tail rice balls, dried pollack, and chewy pyeonyuk (sliced boiled meat).
For sides, there was kimchi king dumplings, meat king dumplings, half-and-half king dumplings, kimchi pancake, and chive pancake — really a wide variety.

I filmed a video of the full menu plus drinks and beverages so you can see it in detail — check it out if you're curious. Anyway, out of all this, we decided to order the Obongjip Special.
Side dishes and the self-serve bar
After ordering, we chatted for a bit and the staff brought out the basic side dishes.

If we ran out, we could just grab more from the self-serve bar.

Just a heads-up — rice isn't free-refill with the Obong Special or the dinner menus.

There was also a sign explaining how to eat it for the best experience, which was nice to reference.

The Obongjip Special spread, starting with whole grilled octopus
Soon enough, the main dishes all arrived. Doesn't it look amazing?

I filmed a video so you can see it in more detail — check it out if you're curious.
First up is the grilled octopus. It came in whole like this.

So they cut it into bite-sized pieces for us, and finally I got to taste it — it was so good. Definitely lived up to its reputation as a top Beombak-dong, Bucheon restaurant.

I also ate it together with the vegetables.

Eating it together with the pork was pure art.

And you can't skip the combo with bean sprouts, right? I love eating it this way, so I went back for an extra serving of bean sprouts.
Bossam made with gabrisal (pork shoulder blade)
Next up is the bossam, and unlike other places, this one was made with gabrisal.

I tried it with high expectations, and wow, the meat was tender and so delicious.

I also ate it with kimchi.
The mu-raa (pickled radish) that came with it made for a perfect pairing too.

And dipping it in salted shrimp sauce was great because you could really taste the meat's natural flavor.

A generous mak-guksu, then fried rice to finish
Last up is the mak-guksu (buckwheat noodles). Isn't the portion huge for something that comes in a combo?
We put on the plastic gloves they gave us and mixed it all together first.
I took a big bite, and yep, it was exactly to my taste.

I also ate it with the pork.
It went really well with the octopus too.
By this point we were basically full, but come on, if you're Korean you know a meal isn't complete without rice, right? So they added the stir-fry sauce, leftover vegetables, seaweed flakes, and octopus.
Then drizzled in sesame oil and mixed it all up thoroughly.
I scooped up a big spoonful and ate it — I would have regretted it if we hadn't ordered the rice. It was seriously so good.
Is Obongjip Beombak-jeom worth a visit?
The two of us happily ate until we were stuffed, and walked out already saying we'd come back again. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Beombak-dong, Bucheon, or a place to eat near Starfield Bucheon, I'd definitely recommend checking this one out.
