My husband and I were shopping near Gwanghwamun Station and got a craving for Chinese food, so we headed to 'Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon,' a knife-cut noodle and dim sum spot.
Where is Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon, and is it open over Chuseok?

The place has a clean yet exotic vibe, and my husband and I had a really nice time there!! ❤️❤️
A Taiwanese Chinese restaurant pulling its own knife-cut noodles

Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon sits between Gwanghwamun and Jongak stations, so it's easy to get to — a solid pick on the 1st floor of Le Meilleur Jongno Town ✌🏻

It's a Taiwanese Chinese restaurant run by a chef from mainland China. They specifically call it 'handmade beef dosakmyeon' — dosakmyeon (knife-cut noodles) are made by shaving strips of dough straight into the boiling water, so the noodles come out in uneven widths, which I found really appealing and great in texture!!

It looked like a great spot for office workers around Gwanghwamun to grab lunch, dinner, or even eat solo. I heard lunchtime gets busy enough that there can be a wait! I'd happily wait to come back for lunch again.

The whole restaurant was clean and tidy, which made for a really pleasant meal.
Three dishes for two: the menu and the side dishes

The banchan (side dishes) are pickled mustard greens and savory peanuts. They're nice to pick at while waiting for the beef dosakmyeon, and they also went well alongside the dishes once they arrived 🙂

- Uyuk Dosakmyeon (beef knife-cut noodles) ₩11,000
- Shaomai (shrimp + pork dumplings) ₩9,800
- Kkwabaerou ₩19,000
- Shorongpo (pork/juicy xiaolongbao) ₩9,800
- Sujeongdal Mandu (chive + shrimp dumplings) ₩9,800
- Lazji ₩18,800
- Mala tofu ₩10,800
- Yuxiang eggplant rice bowl ₩10,800
- Horang Bokkeum (tiger stir-fry) ₩18,800
Prices are reasonable enough to order generously. The two of us ordered three dishes! Adding dumplings to the beef noodles is a must!! ✨☀️
We ordered the brothy beef dosakmyeon, the spicy yubal dosakmyeon, and the xiaolongbao — three very different dishes that made a great combination.
Beef knife-cut noodles in broth, 11,000 won

✔️ Uyuk Dosakmyeon ₩11,000. We ordered the signature beef dosakmyeon! The rich beef broth left a real impression.
The uneven noodle strands were chewy yet soft. Eating them together with the big chunks of beef was great.

The warm broth was delicious and the portion was generous and filling.

Being handmade noodles, this was, in both texture and taste, the best dosakmyeon I've had.

Spicy yubal dosakmyeon, 11,000 won
✔️ Yubal Dosakmyeon ₩11,000. This is dosakmyeon tossed with soy sauce and hot scallion oil poured over the top — a mixed noodle dish packed with flavor 😍 I'd never had it before, but seeing the photo and description on the menu, I really wanted to try it!!!
It had a completely different appeal from the brothy beef dosakmyeon — delicious. The chili oil and spices made it spicy in a really good way.

Xiaolongbao pork soup dumplings, 9,800 won
✔️ Shorongpo (pork/juicy xiaolongbao) ₩9,800. These paired so well with the beef dosakmyeon! Pork dumplings packed with juicy broth inside.
Xiaolongbao are always moving no matter how many times I have them! Topping them with shredded ginger added even more depth.

If you love noodle dishes, I think you'll really love the texture of dosakmyeon! If you haven't tried it yet, I'd definitely recommend heading to 'Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon,' a favorite among Gwanghwamun office workers, and giving it a try !!! 🥰😍
