Seooreung Chinese restaurant with Dad: double mandu, Jjamppong Jijeon
In short
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch (짬뽕지존 서오릉점) is a Chinese restaurant on Seooreung-ro in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi, specializing in jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles). The writer had a weekday lunch for two with Dad: jjajangmyeon, jjamjjamyeon (half jjamppong, half jjajangmyeon), sticky-rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and jjamppong fried mandu (dumplings), plus a free plate of fried mandu from a KakaoTalk event, so the fried mandu came double. With easy parking and a self bar covering side dishes, rice and coffee, Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a solid family lunch after a Seooreung outing.

Today's story is about Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch (짬뽕지존 서오릉점), where I went for lunch after visiting Seooreung, near my home, with my dad! It's a great stop when you've been out around Seooreung and suddenly crave jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) or jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) haha. The jjajangmyeon and jjamppong are both good, and the tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) is good too, so it's a fine pick whenever you want Chinese food. This time it was just Dad and me, and we ate until we were stuffed haha.
Where is Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, and what's the parking like?
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is at 424 Seooreung-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea, on floors 1–2. It's open daily 07:00–22:00, with last order at 21:30. There's a dedicated parking lot you can use.

It's right near Seooreung, so it's a good place to eat if you're visiting the area. Best of all, parking is easy if you come by car, which I loved haha.

Soldier discount and 10% off takeout
Before going in, I noticed signs at the entrance for a soldier discount and 10% off takeout orders haha. Good to know if that applies to you! Okay, let's head inside haha.
How long is the weekday lunch wait?
I went at weekday lunchtime and wow... it was packed! It really must be a famous Seooreung spot haha. Luckily exactly one table was left, so we sat down right away without waiting.
You don't wait for staff to seat you here. You just walk in and sit at any open table. The staff were friendly too, so the meal started on a good note. There can be a wait, but as a restaurant, lots of people finish and leave, and turnover seems pretty good, so it didn't look like a very long wait haha. It will depend on when you go, of course!
Ordering by tablet: what Dad and I picked

After you sit down, you order on the tablet on the table. You can browse the menu yourself, so ordering was easy. Here's what we ordered!
- Dad: jjajangmyeon
- Me: jjamjjamyeon (half jjajang, half jjamppong)
- Sticky-rice tangsuyuk
- Jjamppong fried mandu (fried dumplings)
I'm not the only one who agonizes between jjajangmyeon and jjamppong at a Chinese restaurant, right? haha So I went for jjamjjamyeon, which lets you have both at once. And a Chinese meal without tangsuyuk feels a bit lacking, doesn't it? Jjajangmyeon + jjamppong + tangsuyuk is basically the golden rule, isn't it? haha We added fried mandu too and decided to do it properly.
Free fried mandu from the KakaoTalk event

There's a KakaoTalk event notice on the tables at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch. I spotted it while waiting for our order, and I can't just walk past an event like that haha. I joined right away.

A little later, the fried mandu came out! Amazing hahaha. We already had our own order, so getting fried mandu as a freebie from the event felt extra good. I love little perks like this haha. It let us eat even more generously.
How are the jjajangmyeon and jjamjjamyeon?
Dad had jjajangmyeon and I had jjamjjamyeon.

The food has arrived! Now we just have to dig in!

My order was jjamjjamyeon! When you want both jjajangmyeon and jjamppong, nothing beats it haha.

One side holds jjajangmyeon and the other holds jjamppong, so the upside is that you get to enjoy both dishes at once.

Nutty, sweet jjajangmyeon
Jjajangmyeon first! Toss the noodles well in the glossy black bean sauce and slurp them up. It's so good. That nutty, sweet flavor typical of jjajangmyeon really wakes up your appetite. The jjamppong is good, but the jjajangmyeon is too, so whichever you pick, you'll be satisfied. Dad enjoyed his too haha.

Zesty jjamppong packed with meat, seafood and vegetables
Now the jjamppong! 🍜 It's loaded with meat, seafood and vegetables, and the broth is nicely spicy haha. Alternating a bite of jjajangmyeon and a bite of jjamppong lets you enjoy both flavors. Both the jjajangmyeon and the jjamppong are good here! 😋
Is the sticky-rice tangsuyuk packed with meat?
I liked that the sticky-rice tangsuyuk at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is packed with meat. Honestly, leaving a Chinese restaurant without tangsuyuk is a little disappointing, isn't it? hahaha So of course we ordered it.
It doesn't feel like all batter. There's a solid amount of meat inside, so chewing it was satisfying. Crispy outside and full of meat inside, it went perfectly with the jjajangmyeon or jjamppong.

Noodles alone can feel a bit short, but adding tangsuyuk definitely makes the meal feel fuller! Sharing several dishes between two of us meant we got to try a bit of everything haha.
Jjamppong fried mandu plus free fried mandu: double the dumplings

We ordered the jjamppong fried mandu too, and then got another round of fried mandu through the KakaoTalk event hahaha.

Double the fried mandu is a total win! Crispy, and what can I say, fried mandu is fried mandu 😋
Side dishes, rice and coffee at the self bar

There's a self bar inside Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, so if you need more side dishes while eating, you can just grab them yourself. It's handy to be able to top up whatever runs out right away.

And that's not all! There's rice at the self bar too, so you can get some whenever you need it during the meal. Jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, tangsuyuk, and rice on top? That's hearty haha.

After the meal, you can also help yourself to coffee or drinks. From rice to dessert, all in one place! Finishing with coffee rounds the meal off nicely haha.
Is it a good lunch with parents after a Seooreung outing?
I went to Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch for lunch after visiting Seooreung with Dad. Even on a weekday lunch it was really crowded, so it's clearly a popular place. Luckily one table was open and we sat right away, and the sit-anywhere system made things easy. I also liked how easy the parking is.
We enjoyed the jjajangmyeon and jjamppong, plus the sticky-rice tangsuyuk full of meat, and getting free fried mandu from the KakaoTalk event made the meal even better haha. With side dishes and rice at the self bar and coffee or drinks at the end, it's a good place to have a solid meal.
If you're looking for a Seooreung restaurant or a jjamppong place in Goyang, I recommend Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch too! When you've been to Seooreung and crave jjajangmyeon or jjamppong, or need somewhere to eat with your parents, it's a good option. I'll probably come back next time I crave jjamppong haha.
