Today I'm bringing you my review of the lunch course at Nansan-ri Restaurant, a 100% reservation-only restaurant tucked in a quiet, charming countryside village in Seongsan-eup on Jeju's east side 🌿 It's popular enough to be featured in magazines and media all the time, and it was recently selected as a Jeju Gourmet Spoon restaurant for the 2026 Jeju Food & Wine Festival, so I went in with high expectations!

Where Nansan-ri Restaurant is, plus parking and hours
Nansan-ri Restaurant is located at 38 Nansan-ro 41beon-gil, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, and it's open Wed–Mon 10:00–21:00, closed every Tuesday. For parking, head to 32 Nansan-ro 41beon-gil.
Parking isn't right next to the restaurant — instead, park at the blue-roofed warehouse lot about a 1-minute walk away! It was spacious with plenty of spots, so parking was easy.

The vine-covered exterior and the dog leash hook out front
Nansan-ri Restaurant is only about a 15-minute drive from Seongsan Ilchulbong or Pyoseon Beach, making it a perfect stop on an eastern Jeju itinerary! The building, completely covered in vines, looked like a hideout straight out of a fairy tale — so pretty! 🌿 There was a photo zone in the yard and outdoor tables too, which seemed like it would be great to enjoy outside when the weather's nice.
Even the entrance door handle was shaped like a fork, haha. It gave off a real Hansel and Gretel fairy-tale vibe, which felt surprising and set a different mood right from the start. There's also a dedicated hook right next to the entrance for tying up your dog's leash for a moment so you can walk in comfortably if you're visiting with a pup! The little sign with the parking icon and dog illustration was such a cute, thoughtful touch, haha.
Inside Nansan-ri Restaurant: the room and the seating

The interior feels warm and cozy, yet the high ceilings give it a nice sense of openness, and honestly the atmosphere is just insane ㅠㅠ There's a bar counter where you can watch the cooking happen right in front of you, a private space slightly separated by curtains, and window seats with views of the Jeju countryside! The tables are spaced generously too, so it's a perfect spot to have a quiet conversation over your meal ✨
There's also a restroom inside! It was nice not having to go outside just to find one 👍👍

The wine list and a handwritten note with each guest's name
Since Nansan-ri Restaurant was selected as a Jeju Gourmet Spoon restaurant for the 2026 Jeju Food & Wine Festival, it's no surprise there's a wine cellar on one side of the restaurant, plus a wall display beautifully arranged with various bottles of wine!! The lineup is surprisingly diverse — red, white, sparkling, conventional, and even natural wines — so it's easy to pick something to your taste!

Since I'd made a reservation ahead of time, my table had the menu along with a little handwritten card with my name on it! 🫧 From the floor to the ceiling, the tables, even each dish — there wasn't a single spot the owner's touch hadn't reached. I heard they even buy local ingredients directly from the five-day market!!

Nansan-ri Restaurant runs entirely on reservations, and since seating is limited, tables aren't fixed, and each time slot only allows a set number of guests, you get to eat in a quiet, private setting — a huge plus. I went for the lunch course, and each table had a card laying out the course, so I could look forward to each next dish, haha.
The lunch course begins with fern (gosari) butter bread
The first thing to arrive in Nansan-ri Restaurant's lunch course is the bread! It comes with a baguette and gosari (bracken fern) butter, and that fern butter has a really unusual nuttiness!! Perfect for waking up your appetite before the meal (extra bread +₩2,000).
The best dish of the course: the caviar-topped egg
If I had to pick the single best dish from this lunch course at Nansan-ri Restaurant, it would hands down be this egg dish! 🥹💛 It comes with an extremely softly cooked egg layered lightly with mushroom cream sauce and tomato sauce. The egg is cooked to just the right doneness, so it's incredibly soft, and eating it together with the sauce, it just melts in your mouth ㅠㅠ
On top of the egg sits a salty pop of caviar, which also made it great for photos. The sauce could easily veer rich, but the tangy tomato sauce and salty caviar balance it out perfectly — the combination is insane. It was almost sad how quickly it disappeared. My sister and I both scraped our spoons across the plate, haha 👍👍
Caesar salad and rosemary roasted potatoes
After the bread and the soft egg dish, next up is this Caesar salad! 🥬 The ingredients are so fresh... and they pile on plenty of cheese too, haha. It could easily be a predictable salad, but everything is so fresh that it's satisfying to chew, and it resets your palate cleanly and refreshingly before the main steak!!
Next is the rosemary roasted potatoes! The potatoes are cut into wedges and cooked until fluffy all the way through. The dish could easily be plain or greasy, but the sharp bite of the shishito peppers paired well with it. It's tasty dipped in the main dish's sauce, and delicious eaten on its own too — I demolished it ✨

The main: Jeju black pork tenderloin steak in melgeot cream sauce
Finally, the main dish arrives — Jeju black pork tenderloin steak! 🥩 The cross-section of the meat had a soft pinkish hue, so I could already tell the doneness was going to be insane before even tasting it. And once I did — can pork really be this tender? It melts in your mouth ㅠㅠ The sauce underneath in particular is amazing! Called a melgeot (anchovy sauce) cream sauce, it sounded a bit unfamiliar at first, but it keeps the distinctive umami of melgeot while the cream makes it nutty and smooth — a flavor pretty much everyone would love, haha.

The pickles are homemade, and unlike store-bought ones, they're made by slicing the cucumbers whole into long, thick pieces, giving them a great texture — not too sour, just pleasantly sweet and tangy, so fresh 🤤
Basil pesto spaghetti, a 3,000 won swap
This is the basil pesto spaghetti I switched to for an extra ₩3,000, and I seriously, genuinely recommend making the swap. The noodles are cooked just right, and the basil pesto is so rich and generous that it felt like eating whole basil leaves! As a basil fanatic, I was so happy, haha. It's oil-based so it goes down smoothly, and thanks to basil's fresh character, there's zero heaviness even by the last bite — I scraped the plate clean! If you love basil, you absolutely have to add this on ✨

The standard chorizo oil spaghetti comes with free refills
The default chorizo oil spaghetti was also more delicious than I expected! 🍝 The distinctive salty, spicy umami of chorizo really soaks into the oil sauce, so it's not heavy at all! They even said the oil pasta is made in a larger batch so it can be refilled, haha. If you like clean yet spicy oil pastas, the chorizo spaghetti alone would be plenty satisfying ✨

Panna cotta to finish the course
To wrap up the meal! Dessert is panna cotta, the Italian milk pudding! 🍮 On top of the milk pudding sits a red berry sauce and a rich, jam-like compote, making the presentation clean and cute right from the start. It's not overly sweet, just the right pleasant sweetness, giving the meal a clean, satisfying finish that resets your palate perfectly.

Is Nansan-ri Restaurant worth the trip? Final verdict
Nansan-ri Restaurant was perfect in every way — it's hard to believe the course only costs ₩30,000-something! 🌱 I really enjoyed getting to have such a pleasant meal in this peaceful, warm countryside village atmosphere!! It's a great recommendation for a special day, an anniversary, or any time you want a quiet, atmospheric meal during a Jeju trip 🥂✨ Since it operates entirely on reservations, if you're planning a trip to eastern Jeju or the Seongsan area, be sure to book ahead! 🧡
