Parking is stressful wherever you go on weekends, so I went looking for a Western restaurant in Gyeongnam's Yangsan where I wouldn't have to worry about it.
Not only is parking easy, you can also eat high-quality Western food in a full-on European-feeling interior.
This is Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch, a Western restaurant in Yangsan good for both family meals and dates.

Getting there from Namyangsan Station, parking, and the mood inside

Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch, a Western restaurant in Gyeongnam's Yangsan, is located 837m from Exit 1 of Namyangsan Station.
It's on the basement level inside Oslo Park, Yangsan's complex cultural center.
For parking, use the Oslo Park parking lot — once you park on B2 and ride the escalator up, it's right there on your left.

The moment I walked in, I was surprised by how wide and how high-ceilinged the space was.
There's real spacing between tables, and with the floor-to-ceiling windows, the sense of openness was fantastic.
On a hot day like this, I could really feel how pleasant it was.

The interior, designed with high ceilings and soft arched curves inspired by Sweden's national art museum, left a real impression.
The various objects on the walls and the vintage furniture were apparently all selected directly in Europe.
Every chair was different, which gave the space a lot of character and made it pretty.
The menu at Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch

True to its reputation as a Western restaurant in Yangsan, the menu runs from salads to pasta, rice dishes, steak and pizza.
I'm told the steady sellers are the young napa cabbage Caesar salad, truffle gnocchi, kung pao pilaf, jambon pizza, and the Bueokgan steak.
Honest review of three plates — pilaf, pasta, pizza

Even the spoon, fork and knife have a distinct design with European flair.
Each seat comes set with a small plate, a cup, and wet wipes.

We ordered the shrimp anchovy oil pasta, the kung pao chicken pilaf, and the pepperoni pizza.
The food came out beautifully plated on white dishes.

Kung pao chicken pilaf, ₩22,000
One of the steady-seller menu items at Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch, a Western restaurant in Gyeongnam's Yangsan.
It's ₩22,000, an Asian-style fried rice where kung pao sauce meets oven-roasted chicken.

The big chicken leg is sous-vide cooked, then finished in the oven.
The color looks a bit pink, but don't worry — that's just the sous-vide method.

The chicken was soft and had a nice clean flavor.
It was seasoned just right, so it was delicious even on its own.

The salty, spicy kung pao sauce adds savoriness to both the chicken and the pilaf.
I'm not great with spicy food and it was spicier than I expected, but the chicken tones down the heat so it was still enjoyable.
There are whole peperoncino peppers mixed in, and biting into one is really spicy, so if you can't handle heat, watch out.

Shrimp anchovy oil pasta, ₩18,000
I love anchovy pasta, so I immediately picked Bueokgan's signature shrimp anchovy oil pasta.
It's ₩18,000, an anchovy oil pasta with shrimp, garlic and tomato.

The anchovy flavor isn't overly strong or sharp, so even people who aren't big anchovy fans could enjoy this oil pasta.
I like my pasta cooked with some bite left, and this hit my taste exactly — I enjoyed it a lot.

Crisp cucumber and radish pickles on the side.
Refreshing, and they pair well with the somewhat oilier Western dishes.

Personally, the shrimp anchovy oil pasta was my favorite dish of the day.
It was satisfying enough to deserve the signature title, and I don't think it would be particularly polarizing.

Pepperoni pizza, ₩17,000
Pizza is one of my favorite foods, so I went with the pepperoni.
It's ₩17,000, a wood-fired-style pizza loaded with pepperoni.
The size is just under 11 inches, so it's a good size to order alongside other dishes.
There's plenty of cheese, giving off a rich, savory, clean cheese aroma.

The salty pepperoni and the savory cheese go really well together.
Being wood-fired style, the crust was crisp yet chewy, so good that we didn't leave a single crust behind.
Final thoughts — a good pick for a Yangsan date?
