Nutritious and great value: Eonyang Dak Kalguksu.

Whenever we eat out with the kids, I always wonder the same thing: what can they eat happily that also gives them real nutrition as a meal? This time I took the kids to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu (언양닭칼국수), a Korean restaurant in Songdo District 1. We ordered two chicken kalguksu and one dak-gomtang, and the kids were thrilled the second they saw the noodles, as kids are.
Where is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu in Songdo, and is there parking?
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is at 160-15 Haedoji-ro, 1st floor, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, in the Songdo District 1 academy area, and parking is free in the same building. It is open daily 11:00-21:30 with last order at 20:30, and it offers takeout, delivery, group seating and Wi-Fi. The exterior has a homey, tiled-roof (giwa) look.

Because it sits in an academy district, I thought it would also be a good place for kids who have to grab a meal between classes and want something filling.

Parking is free in the building, which made visiting with the kids easy.
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu at 5 p.m.: the room and the self-serve bar
We arrived around 5 p.m. and four or five tables were already eating. It seems like a place that never runs out of customers.

It hasn't been open in Songdo that long, so maybe that's why the interior looks quite clean.

There are solo seats too, so it's a good place to come alone. There's a self-serve bar where you can take as many side dishes as you like.

Spicy kimchi or regular kimchi: what did the kids eat?
The self-serve bar has two kinds of kimchi, spicy and regular. My kids usually can't handle spicy food, but amazingly they ate the spicy kimchi with their chicken kalguksu here without much trouble.

Maybe the warm broth and the spicy kimchi just went well together, because the kids said it was delicious and ate quite well.

Before the meal, the kids filled their bowls with kimchi and started on that first. It was so spicy that they drank several glasses of water, haha.

Chicken kalguksu without scallions: did the kids like it?
About 10 minutes after ordering, the chicken kalguksu came out first. It normally comes topped with green onions, but the kids asked for no scallions, so it arrived without them.

Chewy noodles in hot broth is easy for kids to eat, and with the chicken too it was a pretty filling meal.

Above all, the kids said it was delicious and ate well, and as a mom that's what satisfies me most!

When eating out with kids, the most important thing is that they eat well, and that day they really enjoyed the chicken kalguksu, which made me happy too. My son said:
Mom, I like this restaurant!

This was my son's second visit to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu with me. I remember he loved the chicken kalguksu the first time and was very satisfied. Seeing him eat so happily again, I felt glad I'd brought him back.

Mom's pick: Eonyang Dak Kalguksu's dak-gomtang
I ordered the dak-gomtang. The hot, mild broth comes with rice and chicken in it, so it was gentle on the stomach and filling. It isn't a harsh or heavily seasoned dish, so I thought it would work well for a Songdo family meal with kids.

Portions and value for a family meal in Songdo
One bowl of Eonyang Dak Kalguksu is filling enough that ordering one per family member felt less of a burden. Eating out with kids means ordering for everyone, which can get expensive, so that made me even happier.

Tasty food matters, but when you eat out with kids, you think about price and portion too.

In that sense, since both kids and adults can eat their fill, I think Eonyang Dak Kalguksu suits anyone looking for a family restaurant in Songdo.

Each bowl has half a chicken, and it's not a small chicken but a big one, so the portion is quite generous.

I snapped a photo of my daughter busily eating.
