Songdo Beach restaurant in Pohang: mushroom pesto risotto at Plan A

I took a quick trip to Pohang, and I'd heard this was an ocean-view restaurant, so I went in with big expectations. From the atmosphere to the taste, it was totally my type... haha. Here's my review of Plan A Restaurant (플랜에이레스토랑), haha!

Where is Plan A Restaurant and how do you get there?

Plan A Restaurant is on the 4th floor of the building at 1189 Huimang-daero, Nam-gu, Pohang. Go in through the entrance next to GS25 and take the elevator up to the 4th floor‼️ It's right in front of Songdo Beach, so the location was great~~~

What is the ocean view like at Plan A Restaurant?

Since it's on the 4th floor, you look down over Songdo Beach and the blue East Sea in one refreshing sweep 🫢🫢 Watching the waves through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows makes all the built-up stress fly away!!!

In the daytime the sea sparkles in the sunlight, and I imagine that around sunset the red glow makes it even more romantic! T_T Those glass windows are seriously crazy 👍👍👍

Should you reserve a window seat?

When I visited, all the window seats were already reserved. If you want to sit by the window, I think it's best to make a reservation~ I sat on the side and that was nice too 😁

What did we eat at Plan A Restaurant?

Here's the menu. There were more options than I expected, so I agonized a bit over what to eat 🙄🙄

Mushroom basil pesto cream risotto

What I ordered was the mushroom basil pesto cream risotto! 💚 The fragrant basil smell hit me as soon as it came out, and this was honestly my number one, so so delicious 🍀🍀

I also heard that at Plan A Restaurant an owner-chef with 20 years of experience cooks everything by hand every day, even making every sauce himself~🫢

Aglio olio

I ordered the aglio olio too~ I thought an oil-based pasta might be heavy, but it wasn't greasy at all. It was nutty, salty and clean-tasting, and I scraped up every last spoonful!! Alternating bites with the risotto is a honey combo you could inhale endlessly 😋

I wanted to order a salad too, but when I saw what other guests had ordered, the portions looked huge~ so I stuck with just these two 🥲 Next time I'd like to try the salad and the chop steak.

What are the interior and atmosphere like?

The side seat I took has a great view too, right~?? The interior is clean and modern in white and wood tones, so photos come out bright and pretty wherever you shoot!🌟 The tables are spaced widely apart too, so I thought it'd be perfect for get-togethers, haha

By the way, pets are allowed at Plan A Restaurant, so keep that in mind!! Haha. It felt less like a place where you just eat and leave, and more like somewhere to enjoy the ocean view and the atmosphere along with the food T_T The sea view is really... so pretty ⛱️🚢

I heard Plan A Restaurant has run in the same spot for 10 years, ever since it opened in front of Songdo Beach in November 2015!! There must be a reason it has lasted so long in one place, don't you think~?

Is parking easy at Plan A Restaurant?

The parking lot is right behind the restaurant, about a 2-minute walk away~ The spaces are wide, so even beginner drivers can park without worry 🅿️ You can use the public lots in front of and behind the restaurant and the community service center lot for free, so there was zero parking stress, haha

I also heard that Haeoreum Bridge, which has become a new landmark in Pohang, is now open, so you can get from Yeongildae to Plan A Restaurant in 5 minutes, making it even more convenient~ haha

How did I plan the day after lunch in Pohang?

Plan A Restaurant is close to Jukdo Market, said to be one of Korea's top 5 markets, so it's a good spot to have lunch and then visit the market~ For reference, I had lunch at Plan A Restaurant, walked along Songdo Beach, then visited Jukdo Market‼️ haha

Tasty aglio olio, fragrant mushroom basil pesto cream risotto, and a dazzling sea made it a perfect lunch 🍴 If you're looking for a proper ocean-view pasta restaurant in Pohang, I recommend it~~~
