The CSSAE Sebum Absorption Patch Mask comes with 3 sheets total in one box. The instructions on the back of the package are written in detail, so even first-timers can follow along easily. But I picked up one super-adhesion trick while applying it myself! This patch is unusual in that it has a protective film on both sides.
- First, peel off the protective film on one side.
- Press the patch onto your face.
- While it's on, peel off the remaining film on the outer side.
Doing it this way keeps the patch from going floppy — it sticks snugly to your face! If you peel both films off beforehand, it goes limp and gets hard to apply, so I really recommend following this order.
First impressions of the CSSAE patch: texture, fit, and an unexpected twist
The texture itself is super soft. The moment I put it on my face, the heat in my skin seemed to melt away, so the cooling sensation alone was satisfying. I left it on while doing chores around the house and lost track of time — ended up wearing it for a bit over an hour.
Usually with other sebum patches, once time passes they dry up stiff like paper, and when you peel them off your skin goes all red and irritated, right? But even after an hour, this one didn't feel bone dry, so I thought "huh? is it not dry enough yet? did this flop?" When I peeled it off by hand, it genuinely didn't hurt at all — it just slid off smoothly. With zero irritation, I almost got disappointed thinking "ugh, probably zero sebum came out... this was a bust."

Wetting the patch: how much sebum came off the butterfly zone
The instructions said, "If you want to see with your own eyes how much sebum was absorbed, try wetting the patch with water," so I figured I had nothing to lose and tried it. ...It was genuinely wild. You could see, right there in the exact shape of the butterfly zone of my face, sebum packed in so densely it was almost trypophobia-inducing lol lol. The fact that it had quietly pulled all of that out without any pain was so bizarre it gave me chills. *Warning: it's gross.

And honestly, the real legendary part was the next morning. I woke up and could feel with my fingertips that my skin had gotten noticeably firmer. I could definitely tell my skin's baseline condition was different from usual.
Round two: less sebum on the second CSSAE patch
Honestly, even after using the first patch, I still had a bit of a reasonable doubt lingering — like, "is this just the mask material itself designed to look like sebum when it gets wet?" So a few days later I applied a second patch the same way. The result?
The amount of sebum that came off was way less than the first time! The left photo is from the first use, the right photo is from the second use!! Put side by side, the difference is unmistakable, right?!
If the patch itself were just for show, the same amount should come out every time, right? But seeing with my own eyes that the sebum amount dropped on the second use gave me real confidence and trust — "ah, this genuinely reduces the sebum in my pores." Strongly recommend this to anyone with very dry or sensitive skin who can't handle harsh nose strips, or anyone whose makeup lifts off because of sebum in the butterfly zone.
