Songdo soup spot with Mom: kimchi-broth summer chicken soup, Eonyang

In short

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is a Korean restaurant on Haedoji-ro in Songdo, Yeonsu, Incheon, specializing in chicken kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and dak-gomtang (chicken and rice soup), each 11,000 won. The writer ordered one of each with her mom and loved the half chicken in every bowl, about the size of a woman's palm, plus the kimchi made fresh daily and stirred into the broth. Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is a filling Songdo spot for a summer pick-me-up meal.

What is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch like?

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch (언양닭칼국수 인천송도점) is a chicken kalguksu and dak-gomtang restaurant that's great for lunch in Songdo, Incheon. Here's my review of a bowl that's perfect summer stamina food, let's go ✨

Inside the Songdo branch: fine for solo diners and kids?

The restaurant is spacious and pleasant, with solo seats too, so the interior works for group get-togethers and eating alone alike!

There's a clean restroom right next to the restaurant, which makes the location perfect, and there are baby chairs too, so it's a good place to bring kids.

Sign about Eonyang's house-made noodles and chicken bone broth

Eonyang uses house-made noodles, kneaded by hand and aged for a day, and a chicken bone broth simmered for hours with perilla seeds added. The kalguksu has a rich, nutty flavor that's really appealing.

Spicy kimchi and regular kimchi at the self-bar

How spicy is the self-bar kimchi?

The self-bar has two kinds of kimchi, spicy kimchi and regular kimchi, haha. Even the regular kimchi is spicy for someone who can't handle heat! They say the kimchi is made fresh every day and leftovers get thrown away, so we should only take what we'll eat, right?

But once you start eating, the kimchi tastes so precious that you can't bear to leave any and end up finishing it all!!! It's so good I'd go back just for the kimchi.

What's on the menu and how much is it?

The signature chicken kalguksu and dak-gomtang at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch are ₩11,000 each. Mom and I ordered one of each, order done!

Ordering tips at Eonyang

  • You can ask for the broth to be mild
  • You can choose whether to get the dak-gomtang rice separately

Before the food comes out, I'll go grab pickled radish and kimchi from the self-bar first!

The notices I read while waiting

I was bored waiting for the food, so I read through Eonyang's notices.

  • The reddish tint sometimes seen in chicken dishes, called pinking, doesn't mean it's undercooked. It comes from myoglobin, the red protein in chicken, so it's safe to eat!
  • Eonyang's aged noodles can take about 15 minutes to cook!

How much chicken is in the chicken kalguksu and dak-gomtang?

The chicken kalguksu comes with aged kalguksu noodles in a long-simmered chicken broth, plus half a chicken! The bowl is huge.

The dak-gomtang is chicken broth with rice already mixed in (you can choose), and it also has half a chicken 🤎

The kalguksu noodles were about as thick as udon, with a soft, chewy texture!

Hahaha, I tried to lift the half chicken to show you, but it was so tender that just the bones slipped right out, such a funny moment.

Here's the chicken size against my palm, about the size of an adult woman's palm!! It's so big, seriously great value~~ My heart felt full before I even ate.

The dak-gomtang has a drumstick in it too~~ Order just one dish and you get to enjoy every part of the chicken haha.

Look how plump the meat is.

How do you enjoy the dak-gomtang and kalguksu best?

I'm putting kimchi straight onto the dak-gomtang rice. A spoonful of warm, perilla-scented broth and rice topped with a piece of tasty kimchi made fresh every day, and the savory umami goes wild on my tongue;;🥹❤️

The chicken looks so plump and thick and appetizing, but I'm not going to eat it plain.

Chicken and kimchi together!!! It's so incredibly good that my hand keeps going back to the kimchi. The chicken is great, but with kimchi the combo is just unbeatable. Wow, this really is stamina food.

Eonyang also has daedagi (seasoned chili paste), so I stirred in a little. It's tasty and spicy too, but I strongly recommend stirring kimchi and kimchi juice into the broth!! The spicy kimchi is really hot, so stirring in its juice makes the broth itself deliciously spicy and rich ❤️❤️

It's hot this summer, so let's stay healthy with chicken kalguksu and dak-gomtang at Eonyang, a great Korean restaurant in Songdo, Incheon!!! 🌿
