Seongsu crepe café: all 4 dipping creams compared, Bocado Butter

In short

Bocado Butter Seongsu Main Store is a coconut-based crepe dessert café on Yeonmujang 7ga-gil in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Drawn in by the smell of butter, the writer ate at Bocado Butter, then took out a 10-piece box (about 12,000 won) with two extra creams added for the full set of four dips: coconut, coffee, butter caramel and cacao. Verdict: Bocado Butter's crepes are a light way to get a sugar fix, and the coconut cream comes first, so coconut lovers especially should try it.

I found this crepe dessert gem while wandering around Seongsu: Bocado Butter Seongsu. I walked by, the smell was so good I went in, and it was so tasty that I ended up getting a takeout box too... haha.

Visiting Bocado Butter, a crepe dessert café in Seongsu

I was just walking along without a plan when the smell of butter got me. And hey, they say you have to eat something when you come to Seongsu, right? Other advice I may ignore, but I'm very good at listening to that one. hahahahaha

What is Bocado Butter Seongsu, and when is it open?

Bocado Butter Seongsu is a crepe dessert café on Yeonmujang 7ga-gil in Seongsu. It is open 11:00–20:00 from Wednesday to Monday and closed on Tuesdays. According to the shop's introduction, "bocado" is Spanish for "a bite," meaning a single bite that gives you an unforgettable moment.

Seating and atmosphere at Bocado Butter Seongsu

The inside is smaller than I expected. There were about three tables and a bar seat along the wall. But the butter drawings and the mirror are just so cute... haha...

There's a separate sink, since you eat with your hands

Because it's a dessert you eat with your hands, there's a sink at the back of the shop. I love this kind of thoughtfulness ❤️ The area around the sink is even stylish, too. The tiles on the wall were seriously so pretty. I wish my bathroom at home looked like this.

The wall bar seats have outlets too

The seats along the wall even have outlets for charging. We charged up here properly, so sadly there are no photos of us eating... (T_T) Instead, we took a 10-piece set to go on the way out.

Bocado Butter 10-piece box price and cream options

The 10-piece box set was about ₩12,000. You can pick two creams as standard, and I added two more to get the full set. I barely managed this photo after charging my battery up to 30%. hahahahaha

How does the Bocado Butter crepe taste?

The Bocado Butter crepe is a coconut-based batter baked thin in an oval shape and folded in half. Open the box and it's packed full of crepes, and because of the coconut base a gentle sweet smell hits you right away.

It has plenty of butter, so there's a rich, nutty aroma too. As a crepe it's quite thin, but it's also a bit crispier than an original crepe.

A white cream is hidden inside the batter, just barely visible. Honestly, though, you don't taste the cream much. It doesn't have a strong presence; it just helps you notice the nutty flavor of the batter itself, which was just right. It would probably have felt bland without it. There's a reason for everything.

Bocado Butter's 4 dipping creams compared: coconut, coffee, butter caramel, cacao

Bocado Butter has four dipping creams: coconut, coffee, butter caramel and cacao. I bought all four and dipped into them one by one.

Four Bocado Butter dipping creams

Butter caramel dip: the second most popular cream

Butter caramel is said to be the second most popular cream. As the name promises, the sweet caramel aroma hit me the moment I opened the lid. I bought four creams, so I dipped away without holding back haha

Fitting for a runner-up, it was really delicious too! The butter cream itself is smooth and melts in your mouth, and paired with the chewy-crispy crepe it's a perfect match. The buttery flavor is definitely stronger when you dip than when you eat the crepe plain, so I recommend dipping it in something.

Coconut dip: my number one

But my personal number one is still the coconut cream. Bocado Butter's coconut cream is slightly runnier than the others. The crepe's gentle sweetness blends with that distinctive coconut aroma and gives it a more upscale taste, I think.

Cacao dip and coffee dip

  • Cacao dip: the cacao flavor wasn't as strong as I expected.
  • Coffee dip: it tasted a little like tiramisu.

By the way, it's not in the photos, but I also recommend the Bocado Butter coconut ice cream!

Bocado Butter Seongsu: overall verdict

An overly heavy snack leaves you feeling bloated, but Bocado Butter's crepes are a light dessert, perfect for a moderate sugar fix. It's a good place to take a break while exploring Seongsu. I especially recommend it to coconut lovers 🤍 Hehe, I have to go again.
