Stroller-friendly café in Uijeongbu, Basque & vanilla latte: Forerest
In short
Forerest (포어레스트) is a large café on Nogyang-ro in Nogyang-dong, Uijeongbu, known for its Basque cheesecake. On a Tuesday afternoon the writer brought a baby in a stroller and her husband, and they ordered Basque cheesecake, black sesame cheesecake, a flat white, a vanilla latte and limited-quantity orange juice. Forerest's chewy, nutty Basque cheesecake makes it a café worth recommending for a date in Uijeongbu.

The weather is hot these days, but the humidity is low and it's nice to be out, so I went on a café tour around Uijeongbu with my baby.

What kind of café is Forerest in Uijeongbu?
Forerest (포어레스트) is a large café in Nogyang-dong, Uijeongbu, and a real cake destination. From the entrance road to the parking lot, the several buildings and the sculptures, it's so big that I couldn't fit the whole exterior in a photo.

I took some photos anyway! The space is enormous, and the yard is laid out wide open. Even in the heat, quite a few people were sitting at the outdoor tables chatting over coffee.
Forerest location and parking
Forerest is in Nogyang-dong, Uijeongbu, and I don't know the area well, but a car seems almost essential! The good news is that the parking area is quite big.

Forerest house rules: one order per person, pets allowed
There's a simple notice at the entrance: one order per person, and it's a pet-friendly café haha

Is Forerest crowded on weekday afternoons?
It was a Tuesday afternoon and I was shocked at how many people were there, haha. Past the rather unusual entrance, the inside opens up wide.

Hidden seating areas, indoors and out
The other surprise at Forerest was how many hidden spaces there are. The outdoor tables are split into three or four different concepts, each in a different spot, and the inside is the same.

The group-seat corner where we sat with the stroller
And that wasn't even all of it: there was one more corner, and that's where we sat with the baby stroller. A group had been at the big table, but they happened to be wrapping up, so for a little while we had it all to ourselves haha

The inside isn't just rows of tables either; they didn't skimp on interior touches. I'm not sure whether it's for waiting or a photo zone, but it didn't feel cramped.

Since it's a big café with lots of customers, even the area where they make the coffee is wide open.

What did we order at Forerest?
At Forerest we ordered Basque cheesecake and black sesame cheesecake, plus a flat white, a vanilla latte and orange juice. A friend had told me it's a cake place, so I had high hopes, and sure enough the menu lists cakes first.
The Basque cheesecake was a must, and for the second one I took a recommendation and went with black sesame. For drinks we got a flat white and a vanilla latte, but my husband got hooked on the words "limited quantity" and ordered the orange juice too..!

Pickup notice via KakaoTalk
At Forerest you register your phone number and they message you on KakaoTalk (Korea's main messaging app) when your order is ready! While we were just taking a quick look around the café, everything came out fast.
How does Forerest's Basque cheesecake taste?
Forerest's Basque cheesecake was chewy, soft and nutty with a rich cheese flavor. I cut into the Basque cheesecake, which I've decided is their signature cake, haha. You can tell at a glance how chewy the texture is.

Even the cross-section shows it's not dry! Cheesecake can go wrong: it crumbles everywhere, or the cheese smell is so strong it gets funky. But Forerest's was really just soft, nutty cheese flavor.

Black sesame cheesecake
The black sesame cheesecake was moist and chewy too! The nutty black sesame and the cheese aroma went together better than I expected!

Forerest drinks: flat white, orange juice, vanilla latte
My husband's picks were a hot flat white and the limited-sale orange juice! The flat white looked so much like a latte that for a second I thought my iced vanilla latte had come out wrong. The orange juice was fresh-squeezed, so the sweetness was restrained.

I almost always go for a vanilla latte, but I hate that cloying sweetness that coats your mouth...? Forerest's vanilla latte has a clean sweetness, so it goes well with the Basque cheesecake.
Why I recommend Forerest for a café date in Uijeongbu
Forerest had lots of tables of older folks who came in groups, and customers kept arriving the whole time we were there, which surprised me. It's a cake place for sure, so I recommend Forerest for a café date in Uijeongbu haha
