Why I chose Flat Nine, a Gangnam jazz bar, for a weekend date

Flat Nine is a live jazz bar in Gangnam where my husband and I booked a Saturday 4pm show. I always agonize over where to go on weekends, haha. We see cafés, good restaurants and movies so often that this time I wanted a slightly different mood. Hahaha.

So off we went to Flat Nine with my husband. We reserved the Saturday 4pm show and had a relaxed date watching live music for the first time in a while.

This time at Flat Nine we chose the course menu. Starting with the aperitif,

At Flat Nine the food doesn't all arrive at once; it's prepared to follow the flow of the show. Enjoying the meal and watching the performance together was a fun, fresh experience.

Even while eating something tasty, your eyes naturally drift to the stage, and when the music starts you put your fork down for a moment and focus on it.

Can you still enjoy it if you're driving? Cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails

At Flat Nine I ordered a cocktail, and my husband, who had to drive, chose a non-alcoholic cocktail.

I liked that you can enjoy the same atmosphere without drinking, and even clinking glasses while waiting for the show felt special.

How was the live jazz show at Flat Nine?

The Saturday afternoon show at Flat Nine had piano, double bass and drums, and once it started the whole mood of the space changed :)

It's definitely different from listening to recordings. The performance unfolds right in front of you, and the sound of piano, double bass and drums fills the room,

so naturally we put our phones down and just focused on the show :) Spending time slowly, listening only to music for the first time in ages, made it a healing weekend afternoon. 😊

What kind of day suits a Gangnam jazz bar date?

Good food is nice, but I think time spent trying something new together stays in memory longer ♡

Flat Nine was a date spot that suits anniversaries and birthdays, and also days when you want to make an ordinary weekend a little special.

Why I want to come back to Flat Nine

On the way out after the show, my husband said, "Let's come see a different show next time." Hahaha.
