Japanese curry & icy cold soba for one at Munjeong Station, Gome Mui
In short
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is a Japanese restaurant specializing in pot rice and tonkatsu, on B1 of Terra Tower at Munjeong Station in Songpa, Seoul. For a budget solo lunch, the writer ordered the basic Ichiban curry and cold soba in icy broth, and both the rich Japanese curry and the refreshing soba came in generous portions and tasted great. Even without the pot rice, Gome Mui's curry and cold buckwheat soba made a filling meal that felt like a hangover cure.

Where is Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong, and when is it open?
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong (고메무이 송파문정점) is at 167 Songpa-daero, Terra Tower Building A, B1, Unit G115, Songpa-gu, Seoul. It is open Monday to Saturday, 11:00–21:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00. It's a great Terra Tower spot near Munjeong Station for tidy Japanese food at a good price, and easy to eat at alone.

They say the name Gome Mui combines gome (米), Japanese for rice, with mui (無二), meaning one and only, so it stands for a precious flavor found nowhere else. There's premium Japanese-style pot rice made with a blend of top-grade rice, tonkatsu aged at low temperature in salt koji so the juices stay locked in, and udon made with house-brewed tsuyu (dipping sauce) and broth plus top-quality noodles ♡♡ It's a place for a special meal.
To get to Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong, take Exit 4 of Munjeong Station. There are chairs by the door, so waiting is comfortable. Honestly, the back door is inside the building, so if you want to avoid the sun, coming in that way is easier.

Is Gome Mui good for eating alone near Munjeong Station?
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong has bar seats that are perfect for dining solo.

A group of 6 can also sit together at one table. The bar seats and group tables have a wood look that's really stylish. I wonder if it's real wood. (I kept staring at it, haha.)

Since this is a lunch spot for Munjeong Station office workers, the tables are mostly for two. You can order easily by table order and pay right when you order. At Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong, famous for pot rice and tonkatsu, I went for a budget lunch today.

I ordered cold soba and Ichiban curry. (These two are really refreshing and filling.)

How does the Ichiban curry at Gome Mui taste?
The Ichiban curry at Gome Mui is simmered for a long time in a secret broth with domestic pork, apple and carrot, then blended smooth!!!!! It's plated with plenty of deep-colored curry sauce. (If you want a bigger meal, you can add a tonkatsu or fried shrimp topping.)

The Ichiban curry comes with white rice, yuzu danmuji (pickled radish), kimchi and a warm soup!!!!! The pickled radish was so zesty that I kept reaching for it. The portion is quite large, and since it had been a while since I'd had curry, it tasted wonderful. The flavor of Japanese curry is a different kind of delight from the curry we usually eat, and I really enjoyed it.

What is the summer cold soba at Gome Mui like?
Summer means buckwheat noodles!!!!! At Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong I also ordered a refreshing bowl of soba (buckwheat noodles). Gome Mui says it does its best to let you enjoy new dishes with fresh seasonal ingredients each season, and in winter they'll have udon.

The cold soba comes with chopped scallions, grated radish, seaweed flakes and plenty of fried tofu, which gave it a great chew. The noodles were piled in generously too. There was icy slush floating in the broth, so the soup was really cooling.

Are the curry and cold soba good if you skip the pot rice?
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is known for pot rice and Japanese tonkatsu, but the cold soba and basic curry were delicious too. It felt like a hangover cure!!!!!
