What is Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch like?

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch (쿠우쿠우 노원점) is famous as a sushi buffet. I go about 4–5 times a year, and I'm hugely satisfied every single time. I love Japanese food, so I'm always hunting for sushi buffets, and Kuu Kuu is where you get both value and quality. Considering prices these days, isn't this quality really reasonable? It's a genuinely good spot for a family gathering in Nowon.

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is on the 6th floor of a really big building at 247 Nowon-ro, and the sign is easy to spot from far away.

There's a system for putting your name on the waitlist, and the prices are posted too.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?

The tables are nicely spaced and the walkways are wide, so you can eat comfortably. The moment you walk in, the bright, airy feel lifts your mood. Buffets usually have a chaotic, crowded image, but this place isn't like that.

The staff also greeted us so cheerfully as soon as we arrived, and there are plenty of them, so empty plates get cleared quickly.

Which sushi was good at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?

The star of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is the sushi. The sushi section starts with California rolls.

The salmon sushi was especially amazing. The flounder sushi was so chewy and fresh, and the raw shrimp sushi had a lovely springy bite. The yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) sushi was top quality, wow, and the soy-marinated shrimp sushi was honestly just pure wonder. Just the sushi section is this good at this price?! Haha.

Is there meat and hot food besides sushi?

Head over to that corner and you'll find the hot dishes.

A sushi buffet doesn't mean seafood only. There's a really wide range of meat dishes too, so meat lovers will be very happy with it. It's absolutely good enough for a family gathering in Nowon, and in fact lots of families were there.

Braised short ribs (galbijjim) and seasoned meats were great to pair with everything, and there were crispy fried dishes and pizzas loaded with cheese. So many kinds that even one bite each fills you up quickly. I also liked that the food was kept hot and rarely ran empty~ I filmed the hot food corner on video too.

The cream shrimp tempura is so good, and if you look on the left, that's fried shrimp, which was the best too.

Second plate: salmon cheese mayo sushi and sweet potato cheese pizza

I brought more sushi, and wow, I love the unusual ones with cheese and mayonnaise sauce on top of salmon haha.

Bringing back a plate this full beats any famous waiting-list restaurant..

I also grabbed the pizza right when it came out, and oh my.. this is a cheese pizza topped with sweet potato, and it was so hot that the stretchy cheese was insane. Definitely recommend it for a family gathering in Nowon.

This is a maki roll topped with flying fish roe, packed with roe inside. The best.

Oh, and a plate full of salmon sushi because it was so good, plus cockle bibimbap (kkomak bibimbap)~~ the best, the best.

There's also jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) made for you on the spot.

How is the dessert corner at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?

Honestly, the real charm of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch explodes in the dessert corner. There's a really wide variety of fruit and cake, so you don't need to go to a café afterward.

My favorite fruit was the lychee. Peel it, take a bite, and the sweet, cool juice fills your mouth, so it felt like a fresh reset after the main dishes.

There's both bead ice cream and gelato

The ice cream corner was amazing: they had both bead ice cream and gelato! I couldn't resist and filled a whole cup of bead ice cream right away, then also helped myself to smooth, rich cheese and vanilla gelato. The quality is good, so it hit the spot not just for kids but for an adult palate like mine.

Finishing with chocolate fountain waffles and coffee

The final highlight was the chocolate fountain and waffle combo. A chocolate fountain at a buffet is just exciting and fun, right? I piled sweet chocolate sauce onto a freshly baked crispy waffle. Pouring a fragrant cup of coffee to go with the chocolate waffle made it a perfect finish.

If you're with family in Nowon, I really recommend Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch. I went for a weekday dinner, so keep that in mind!
