It sits right in front of the Gongneung Railway Trail, so it's a perfect course: stroll the trail, then follow it with a tasty meal. Meals come neatly served for one person, so it works for solo dining too.

I went on a weekend with my husband, and I fell for the tenderloin katsu that melts in your mouth. I'm certifying that this is a place you simply have to revisit, so I wanted to introduce it to my neighbors (fellow bloggers) with confidence.

Clean, comfortable interior, friendly service, and outstanding flavor! Dangke Donkatsu has all three, which makes it a perfect date course in Gongneung.

Basement entrance and the mood inside

Dangke Donkatsu is in a basement, half a flight down. The atmosphere is good from the outside already.

Even the flooring shows this place is something special. It feels like one of the Gongneung Railway Trail's popular mood spots, and the vibe is so good!

It's good for a date, and also for a family meal. The window seats are comfortable for eating alone, too.

What we ordered: Tokyo loin katsu and tenderloin tonkatsu

After checking the menu, we ordered the signature Tokyo loin katsu, the one recommended for a Gongneung date, plus the tenderloin tonkatsu. There are regular tonkatsu dishes and curry dishes too, so pick whatever suits your taste.

Tenderloin tonkatsu: a texture that melts in your mouth

First up, the tenderloin tonkatsu. Made with tender tenderloin, it comes with a savory sauce, and the whole set includes soup, rice and salad.

The plating is really pretty too. I was very happy with both the space and the look of the food.

I knew tenderloin was tender, but this one truly melts in your mouth. It's so good I could eat it every day without getting tired of it, and I kept exclaiming over it as I ate!

Tokyo loin katsu in regular heat, with a chili-topped sauce

This is the signature Tokyo loin katsu of this Gongneung date spot. It comes in regular and spicy, and since I can't eat spicy food, I ordered regular. If you enjoy heat, the spicy version is there for you to try.

First of all, the sauce is fantastic. It's delicious already, and the added chili gives it a kick that feels fresh and clean. I'd never seen chili on top of tonkatsu sauce before. It's a simple pairing, but it felt new and fresh.
