Paldalmun, Suwon pasta restaurant: ₩39,000 lunch set for two at Hado
In short
Hado is a Western restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro, just below Paldalmun Gate in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. Two friends ordered Hado's lunch-only pasta set (₩39,000 for two, one ade included), with potato soup and bread, a lemon lavender ade, vongole pasta and bisque pasta, and the spicy vongole and rich bisque each became one person's favorite. For a date or blind-date lunch in a quiet neighborhood away from the busy Haenggung-dong strip, Hado is a good fit.

What is Hado in Haenggung-dong, Suwon like?
Hado (하도) is a Western restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro, just below Paldalmun Gate, away from the main Haenggung-dong strip. I go to Haenggung-dong every month, but always to the main strip, so this time I tried a place below Paldalmun!
The streets around Hado are quiet and full of pretty cafés. It felt like discovering a whole new neighborhood! A really nice area for a date.
What are Hado's atmosphere and seats like?

Walking through the neighborhood, Hado's entrance just pops up, with such a lovely vibe…✨ Open the door and come in, and

you'll find a clean, slightly dim interior. The lighting seems perfect for a blind date, haha. Hado has about two four-person tables, four two-person tables, and a bar table where you sit right in front of the kitchen. We booked through Naver and were seated at a two-person table!

The first thing I saw after sitting down was this cute squirrel on the spoon. You can tell Hado cares about every little detail of its tableware.
How do Hado's lunch menu and dinner course differ?

Hado's Hado set, pasta set and pasta salad set are all lunch-only. You can order à la carte too, but it seems most people go for the sets!

In the evening, Hado also serves course meals. The course lineup changes a little with each season!
What comes with Hado's ₩39,000 pasta set?

The two of us ordered the Hado pasta set (₩39,000)! Ordering pasta comes with potato soup and bread. It's served once by default, and extra costs ₩3,000.
Potato soup and bread

Dunk the fluffy, focaccia-like bread into plenty of potato soup and it's so good. Each is tasty on its own, but together they're even better!!✨
Lemon lavender ade (₩6,000)

The Hado pasta set includes one ade. I couldn't decide between lemon lavender and Earl Grey lemon, but the lavender scent was so fragrant that I think I chose well! When the pasta starts to feel heavy, a fresh, fragrant ade washes it down. Perfect🤍
Is Hado's vongole pasta spicy?

Hado's vongole pasta (₩16,900) is a spicy oil pasta with clams. The spiciness is just right for anyone who can't handle much heat.

I haven't seen clams this plump in a long time! You could tell the ingredients were fresh ლ(╹◡╹ლ)

The noodles are gathered prettily in the middle, so at first I thought the portion was small! But the plate is large and deep, so it was actually plenty.
The clams give it a seafood aroma, and the oil coats the noodles richly. Vongole can get heavy, but thanks to the spice I could enjoy it to the end without it feeling greasy🤍 This was my top pick🫦💦
What does Hado's bisque pasta taste like?

Hado's bisque pasta (₩16,900) uses a sauce made by sautéing shellfish shells and innards, like shrimp, and simmering them down until rich.

The savory seafood flavor hits you and gets your appetite going. It's punchier than the vongole! That's why it was my friend's top pick (●'◡'●)

The bisque pasta is buttery and rich. There's a gentle butter aroma and a deep flavor! And those plump shrimp…🤍
Who is Hado's lunch good for?

Before we left, the owner of Hado even gave us mouthwash! What a thoughtful owner, the best..✨
Delicious food in a calm space! Next time I'd like to come around an anniversary and try Hado's course meal. It was a great spot for a blind date or a date. If you found the Haenggung-dong main strip too crowded, stop by Hado below Paldalmun! The end!
