Sokcho Central Market is one of those places you just have to stop by on a Sokcho trip. It's packed with food, from dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken) to ojingeo sundae (squid stuffed with rice and fillings). This time I went back to Doris Patisserie (도리스파티세리), a Sokcho egg tart spot that's perfect as a sweet dessert after a meal. It's become way more popular than before, so reservations are a must!

Where is Doris Patisserie, and is there parking?

Doris Patisserie is inside Sokcho Central Market, and the pink sign makes it easy to spot~ However, it has no parking of its own, so I'd recommend using the Sokcho Central Market public parking lot or a nearby paid lot and walking over.

Why does Sokcho Central Market have so much good food.. And I'm a total dessert nerd, so I can't walk past baked goods like egg tarts and financiers^^

How do you reserve egg tarts at Doris Patisserie?

You have to reserve by text the day before pickup, sending your visit date, pickup time, menu and quantity. Everything, egg tarts, financiers and the rest, is popular, so you need to book ahead to secure the amount you want. You can find the reservation contact in the shop's information.

Three pickup slots a day

Reservation pickup slots are 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., three in total, so just book whichever you like. Walk-in sales are limited to what's left after reserved orders, so I really recommend reserving, no matter what!

Sold out except reservations, even on a weekday Friday

I visited Doris Patisserie on a weekday Friday and it was already sold out apart from reserved orders, and so many customers were going home empty-handed T_T

Visiting with a reservation, no waiting, so nice!! Everything had already sold out and only the orders reserved for the 3 p.m. slot were left, so the showcase wasn't full.

Popular items at Doris Patisserie and how to order

The plain egg tart is the most famous item at Doris Patisserie, but I hear the cream cheese tart and walnut tart are popular too, and the financiers and madeleines are tasty as well! People usually seem to buy one box of egg tarts and one box of financiers.

You can't order single pieces, only by the box. The exception is extra items, which can be ordered individually.

As you'd expect from a Sokcho Central Market egg tart favorite, if you join the review event you get a free egg tart or financier, so definitely take part and try it right away.

What does the plain egg tart at Doris Patisserie taste like?

The plain egg tart at Doris Patisserie balanced a thin, crispy pastry with a soft, moist filling. The owner threw in 2 egg tarts as a freebie, and eating one right away, it just melted in my mouth T_T I get now why people come to Sokcho for egg tarts..

They pack it in a box like this, so it's great for gifts too. I only brought home the plain egg tarts, but my parents liked the walnut egg tart as well.

Can't eat them right away? Freeze them

If you can't eat the egg tarts right away, you can freeze them and thaw them later, so be sure to stop by Doris Patisserie when you visit Sokcho.

Are the financiers and lemon madeleines good too?

At Doris Patisserie I also bought the fig cream cheese financier and the chocolate financier I'm obsessed with lately, and it's not just the egg tarts: the financiers were moist and delicious too.

Reviews said the lemon madeleine is a life-changing find, so I took some home, and it was fresh, soft and seriously amazing~~ Doris Patisserie in Sokcho Central Market is so popular, so make sure to reserve and enjoy an easy pickup!
