Busan Station sashimi course for a friends' trip: Ppong Sashimi
In short
Ppong Sashimi (뽕사시미) is a Japanese sashimi restaurant with private rooms in Jungangdong, Jung-gu, Busan, near Nampo and Busan Station. After arriving by train from Daegu with a friend, the writer had the 60,000 won per person assorted sashimi course at the last 7:30 PM seating, which included tuna belly, sushi, grilled dishes, a strongly peppery nabe (Japanese hot pot), kataifi shrimp tempura and albap (fish roe rice). Ppong Sashimi is an easy walk from Busan Station, and its private rooms made it a satisfying first dinner of the trip.

How long is the walk from Busan Station to Ppong Sashimi?
Ppong Sashimi is a sashimi restaurant in Jungangdong, about a 10–15 minute walk from Busan Station. It sits right on the main road, so even I, a Daegu person, found it easily.
Cheers! Today I skipped the drinks and just had dinner, and this is a sashimi restaurant right by Busan Station!!! Why Ppong Sashimi? I'm going on a trip to Busan with a friend, our schedule was a bit awkward, and we were looking for a place to eat dinner after getting off at Busan Station >< And the location was just so good!! I was worried we'd be late, T_T but we weren't, haha ✌️

This is the road you see right after you take the train to Busan and come out of Busan Station exit 3 or 4! Turn left and keep going up!! My friend and I both have a truly terrible sense of direction T_T so we each clutched Naver Map the whole way, lol. Our train was due at 7:00 and the restaurant reservation was at 7:30 T_T
Ppong Sashimi dinner course: arrive by 7:30 PM
For the dinner course at Ppong Sashimi, the kitchen has a closing time, so you must arrive by 7:30. Please keep that in mind, everyone. We had the last seating. And booking ahead is a must 💗

Ta-da, a Busan Station omakase-style hotspot >< I love raw fish anyway, so I didn't walk there, I flew. Maybe that's why, despite all my worrying, we arrived a full 10 minutes before our 7:30 reservation.

Ppong Sashimi lunch special and menu
There's a big menu posted right at the entrance, and next to it a small menu for a separate lunch special. Lunch special hours are 11:30–14:00. It was such a great spot that I'd love to come back for lunch next time,, I'm definitely going again T_T

Does Ppong Sashimi have private rooms?
Our spot at Ppong Sashimi was a private space set up like a simple room. We'd arrived earlier than our reservation and I was worried, but the table was already fully set. Amazing!!! Time to eat and chat about five hundred things with my friend.

The menu has à la carte items, there's a separate takeout menu, and the drinks list is especially good. Next time I really want to eat the sushi… when am I going to Busan again T_T
What's in Ppong Sashimi's 60,000 won sashimi course?
What we ordered at Ppong Sashimi was the ₩60,000 per person sashimi course. What you see is for two people, and I was shocked at how much it was T_T OMG, the dishes are out!

Tuna belly and sushi
Next came two pieces each of tuna belly, plus several kinds of sushi!! Honestly I was already so full by this point T_T but it was so good my hands wouldn't stop. What do I do?

Every time a dish came out, a staff member brought fresh chopsticks, neatly tidied the leftover food, took away plates, made space, then served the new dish and explained it well.

Grilled shrimp and clams with a peppery nabe
Several grilled dishes came out, shrimp and clams. I don't really like cheese so I didn't eat them, but my friend ate everything and said it was really, really good.

What came with the grilled dishes seemed to be a nabe (hot pot). After all that raw and oily food I was craving something brothy T_T and the spicy broth seasoned with pepper was really good. (The seasoning in all the dishes has a very strong pepper flavor.)

Kataifi shrimp tempura
Truly the best shrimp tempura I've ever had. Is this kataifi (shredded pastry)? It's crunchy but not greasy or heavy, so I could eat ten of them by myself.

Albap (fish roe rice) and soup to finish
The last meal dishes of the Ppong Sashimi course were roe rice and a soup. I'm not sure what the final soup was T_T I love roe rice and I'm a total carb lover, so even though I was stuffed, it was so good that I scraped up all the rice. I'm a happy pig, full to the brim, haha

Celebrity and baseball player autographs at Ppong Sashimi's entrance
!!!! And when we were leaving Ppong Sashimi, I saw that lots of celebrities, especially baseball players, seem to have visited… I've never seen so many autographs, I was so surprised!! haha Of course, it's a hotspot and an upscale Japanese restaurant split into many rooms, so celebrities must visit often. Many of them looked especially close with the owner T_T What will I eat next time!
