Why I chose dark brown dye before winter

I went to Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store because my roots badly needed a touch-up and my whole head of hair was frizzy. With winter coming, I also wanted a calmer look. My hair is frizzy at the best of times, and with the roots on top of that, it felt unkempt overall, and I couldn't decide what style to go for.

Then I spotted a hairstyle I loved on my designer's Instagram!! It was exactly the vibe I wanted, so I showed the photo and said, "Please do this!" haha. I decided on a calm dark brown dye, plus a clinic treatment and a cut.

What is the atmosphere like at Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store?

Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store is at 37 Bongeunsa-ro 4-gil, 3rd floor, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The moment I walked in, it felt clean and stylish.

Even the shampoo area was prettily decorated, which caught my eye. You end up sitting at the salon longer than you'd expect, right? So the space and the service matter, and I felt comfortable from the very start.

My designer was really kind too. All through the treatment, they kept asking whether anything felt uncomfortable and whether there was anything else they should look at. They paid attention to the small details, so I was relaxed the whole time.

Urgent roots: the all-over dark brown dye process

Instead of only touching up the roots, I dyed everything dark brown to even out the tone. Before the visit, the color difference at my roots was obvious and my hair was frizzy overall, so it needed sorting out. With winter coming, I wanted a calm color rather than a bright one, so I decided on an all-over dark brown.

First they applied a scalp protector, then the dye. After that I had a shampoo and moved on to the clinic treatment. Going through the steps one by one made me look forward to the finished result even more.

How does the Heeol Hair clinic work? Two steamer rounds, moisture then oil

The clinic at Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store applied a moisture product and then an oil product, with 10 minutes under the steamer for each. After the shampoo, they applied a clinic product to replenish moisture, followed by 10 minutes of steaming. Next came an oil-care product and another 10 minutes under the steamer. After the second round I had another shampoo, and finally the cut.

Frizz is my biggest worry, so having these clinic steps added to the color change made me feel like my hair was really being taken care of!

Cut, C-curl blow-dry, and the game-changing part switch

After the cut, they tamed the frizz with a flat iron and finished by blow-drying the ends into a slight C-curl. What I was most curious about was how the style I'd seen on Instagram would turn out on my hair. It wasn't an over-curled look; the ends turned in naturally, which suited the calm mood I wanted.

The second I looked in the mirror I thought, "This is exactly the hair I wanted!!" I liked the dark brown color, but once the styling was done the whole look got even prettier ☺️

From a far-right part to almost center

What I liked most about this styling was the change in my part. It used to lean heavily to the right, and they moved it to almost the center. Just changing that one spot made my impression look different, and the new style suited me much better. I never knew a part could matter this much. It was truly the game changer 👍👍🫶
