Spacious and relaxed, as a large Uijeongbu café should be

The first thing I felt the moment I stepped into Forerest was that they really picked the right name. The entrance is filled with wood, so it felt like being together with nature, and I was already looking forward to the rest I'd get while spending time here.

The roominess of the space was great too. The ceilings are high and the seats are well spaced, so it never felt stuffy at all. Green forest spreads out beyond the windows, so calling it a "café for resting" fits perfectly.

The tables come in many types, so it felt comfortable whether you come alone, on a date, or for a family or group gathering. Thanks to the natural light from the big windows, I felt warm and at ease wherever I sat.

Why Forerest is famous as a cake spot in Uijeongbu

One reason Forerest is so loved is that it makes its desserts in-house.

Display of Forerest's house-made Basque cheesecakes

The signature Basque cheesecake, chocolate Basque cheesecake, black sesame Basque cheesecake and matcha Basque cheesecake are aged in the fridge for 16+ hours, which is said to give a deeper, richer flavor. I was also impressed that they're gluten-free, so you can enjoy them without worry.

I ordered the chocolate and matcha cheesecakes! One bite and the cheese flavor was rich, yet the texture was really smooth. The dense, fudgy feel of Basque cheesecake is exactly my taste! I immediately understood why it's become known by word of mouth as a cake and dessert spot in Uijeongbu.

The coffee was really satisfying too

Forerest takes coffee as seriously as dessert.

Forerest coffee brewed from specialty beans

They say they blend four specialty beans after roasting, researching the balance that goes best with desserts. The staff recommended the flat latte, and the smooth milk and rich bean flavor blended nicely. I was really happy with it.

I also ordered the apple hibiscus. The color is gorgeous and it added a refreshing touch on a hot summer day!

Having coffee and cheesecake together, each seemed to bring out the other's flavor. For those who are wary of caffeine, there's also decaf coffee and carefully selected organic tea, so you can choose to suit your taste, which I liked.

Why I recommend it as a date course in Uijeongbu

Forerest felt less like a place just to drink coffee and more like a place to rest. It's good for quiet conversation while looking at the forest, and the relaxed mood suits spending time with a partner.

Enjoying pretty desserts and coffee, taking photos and chatting slowly, the time really flew by. If you're looking for a café with a nice atmosphere in Uijeongbu, I think it would be a very satisfying date spot.

Also great as a drive course near Seoul

There's a large parking lot, so it was easy to visit by car. It's a good spot to reach on a drive a little way out of Seoul, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a drive course near Seoul. After the drive, sipping a coffee while looking at the forest was far more healing than I expected.

Forerest has old areas that aren't in operation yet, and since they belong to a separate landowner, I only saw them from a distance! It gave me the impression that someone bought the old site of a US military base officers' quarters and turned it into an art space!

Overall verdict

Forerest in Uijeongbu was a café where the word "rest" fits best, just like its name. The spacious, pleasant space, the view of the forest, the carefully made gluten-free cheesecake and the coffee brewed from specialty beans were all satisfying.

If you're looking for a large café, a cake spot, a dessert spot, a date course, a drive course or a dog-friendly café in Uijeongbu, I recommend visiting at least once. Above all, Forerest seems to be the only café in Uijeongbu open until midnight, so it looks like a great pick for a drive course! Even a short break here left me feeling much calmer.
