On a nice evening like these, don't you just crave meat and a drink on a patio? 🍻 I went to Jeongyukdo (정육도), right by Exit 5 of Hapjeong Station.

Jeongyukdo is a Korean BBQ place near Hapjeong Station where you can enjoy outdoor-table vibes, with good-quality Hanbon pork and hanwoo beef at reasonable prices. If you like special cuts, I think you'll be very happy here!

Jeongyukdo is at 14 Yanghwa-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 2nd floor, about a 1-minute walk from Exit 5 of Hapjeong Station. Hours are Mon–Sat 11:30–23:00 (last order 21:30) and Sunday 11:30–22:00 (last order 20:30).

That day we ordered 🥩 the Hanbon pork special cuts set for ₩65,000 and 🥢 a bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) for ₩5,000.

Pork special cuts set for ₩65,000: which cuts come out?

Jeongyukdo's Hanbon pork special cuts set (₩65,000) comes with pork jowl, gabrisal (pork shoulder-loin ridge) and galmaegisal (pork skirt meat), and it was the dish I was happiest with after the visit!

Lean cuts and rich, fatty cuts are nicely mixed, so it's fun to pick what suits your taste.

Pork jowl, gabrisal or galmaegisal? My top pick is galmaegisal

The pork jowl was chewy and nutty, and the gabrisal was juicy with a lovely tender texture. The galmaegisal had a nutty flavor that builds the more you chew, so personally it was my favorite.

Above all, the meat quality was really good. 🥹 Honestly, even among Hapjeong Station BBQ places, it's rare to find this quality and amount at this price.

How is the hanwoo doenjang stew that comes with the set?

With the Hanbon pork special cuts set you get either an earthenware pot of meljeot (salted fermented anchovy dip) or a hanwoo doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), and I picked the hanwoo doenjang stew!!

🍲 The hanwoo doenjang stew had a rich broth and was seasoned just right, the kind of taste that makes you want a bowl of rice right away. It even had meat in it, so the quality was good, and eating it with the special cuts cut through the greasiness, which I loved. A bite of meat followed by a spoonful of doenjang stew is a combo I really recommend. 👍

Is the ₩5,000 bibim naengmyeon worth adding?

The bibim naengmyeon (₩5,000) was definitely worth adding to finish the meat. This place is great for bibim naengmyeon 😆 I usually don't mention it if it isn't good, but the sweet-and-sour sauce was balanced, not overpowering, and went really well with the meat.

Eating it together with the pork jowl or gabrisal was especially good. If you're wondering what to have to finish a meat meal, I recommend adding the bibim naengmyeon!

What's the patio vibe like near Hapjeong Station?

Another plus of Jeongyukdo is its patio atmosphere. 🍻 On a nice day you can enjoy BBQ at the outdoor tables, and with the lively feel of the Hapjeong eatery alley added in, it felt perfect for a drink. It looked good for dates, get-togethers with friends and company dinners too. 😃

Each person also gets an individual plate with pickled chili, seasoned radish and myeongran-jeot (salted pollock roe) 😄
