Hwaseong gyukatsu restaurant with a double set and salmon: Sindong Lab

Sindong Lab Hwaseong Bongdam Branch is a Japanese restaurant in Bongdam, Hwaseong, near the Yungneung and Geolleung Royal Tombs, where sukiyaki and gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) sets are simmered and grilled on a burner at your own table. On this second visit the order was the sukiyaki set (₩14,900), three extra pieces of salmon (₩6,000), the gyukatsu double set (₩26,900) and two zero-sugar colas, with omija tea, cream soup, kirimochi and dessert ice cream all included. Baby chairs, wide spacing between tables and a drink fridge in the waiting area make Sindong Lab an easy Japanese meal with a baby.

Haenggung-dong, Suwon course dinner with two bisque pastas: Hado

Hado is a course restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, serving a basic course and a summer course. After a movie, a table for two booked at 8pm took the counter seats and ordered the basic course for two at 45,000 won per person, a 21,000-won chuck flap steak upgrade, two bisque pastas and a green grape ade, with the open kitchen putting every step of the cooking in view. Ordering the same pasta twice was the one regret at Hado — pick two different ones and share.
