Sumine Gukbap is a sundae-guk restaurant in Mohyeon-dong, Iksan, Jeonbuk. I brought home its uncooked sundae-guk and loved the clean broth, springy sausage, plentiful offal, and generous sides. A hearty, satisfying meal even as takeout.

We shared mild cheese mungangjeong for 9,500 won, katsuobushi octopus skewers for 5,000 won, and self-serve slushies. A fun, easy octopus snack stop while exploring the village.

Three of us tried the uggeoji and aged-kimchi boneless haejangguk, with rich broth, tender meat, and an easy self-service bar. Verdict: a great gamjatang stop when you do not want to pick around bones.
