Uijeongbu Korean BBQ with free naengmyeon: Manpo Galbi
In short
Manpo Galbi is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Uijeongbu Station in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. We had two portions of marinated pork ribs with complimentary mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon, plus pudding-style steamed egg and brisket doenjang stew, for 39,000 won. Verdict: an incredibly generous, satisfying rib feast.

I went for a proper ribs spread near Uijeongbu Station. It was a weekday afternoon, past the lunch rush, but there were still so many customers that I was like, what is going on..? Once I ate, though, I completely understood.
Today’s star is Manpo Galbi (만포갈비), a three-minute walk from Exit 1 of Uijeongbu Light Rail Station. They say they insist on using 100% real pork ribs, guided by the belief that a rib restaurant needs great meat, and season them generously with fruit so the flavor is not overly intense. Their handmade Hamheung naengmyeon (cold noodles) is kneaded and pressed fresh every morning, and you get one free per person when you order ribs! And it is seriously delicious.
This could also be useful for anyone looking for a group restaurant or gathering spot near Uijeongbu’s new downtown area or City Hall. Manpo Galbi is a pork-rib specialist with two locations, in Yangju and Uijeongbu.

The menu: free naengmyeon with a rib order
The lunch-special rib sotbap (rice cooked in a stone pot) set is ₩11,000 on weekdays only, with grilled ribs placed over freshly cooked sotbap. With a rib order, each person gets a choice of handmade Hamheung mul naengmyeon or bibim naengmyeon for free. The broth is made by slowly simmering beef brisket and assorted fruit and vegetables, and the noodles are freshly pressed with a satisfyingly firm bite.
- Marinated pork ribs ₩16,000: the signature handmade marinade, using 100% rib meat
- Handmade LA galbi ₩25,000: premium LA-style ribs using only 6th, 7th, and 8th rib sections
- Korean pork fresh ribs ₩17,000: large fresh ribs from the fourth rib section, aged for three days
- Fresh or marinated beef ribs ₩35,000
- Manpo galbitang (beef short-rib soup) ₩14,000
- Extra yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) ₩13,000; brisket doenjang sulbap ₩6,000; brisket doenjang stew ₩4,000

We ordered two portions of marinated pork ribs at ₩16,000 each, mul naengmyeon for ₩0, bibim naengmyeon for ₩0, pudding-style steamed egg for ₩3,000, and brisket doenjang stew for ₩4,000. The total for two was ₩39,000, including one complimentary naengmyeon per person.

A table overflowing with sides, even with just two portions of ribs
Looking at the spread, I finally got what people mean when they say the table legs might break from all the food.. We had only ordered two portions of ribs, but the basic side dishes alone filled an entire table. I was honestly so surprised.

What especially shocked me was that yukhoe came as a basic side dish. Usually, it is something you have to order separately, so I had to check my eyes. The public sentiment for good food near Uijeongbu Station is wild...

There was such a variety: potato salad, mushroom tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried mushrooms), gungchae namul (seasoned sea asparagus stems), fresh wrap vegetables, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and shredded radish salad. With salted fermented hairtail innards, ssamjang, and salt too, it was fun choosing different dips for the meat. I was overwhelmed in the best way. The sides did not feel like random fillers; every one seemed carefully made, and I was as impressed by their quality as by the ribs. The japchae was springy and warm, like it had just been made, and they also gave us garlic and well-fermented kimchi to grill over the charcoal. I kept thinking, really, even this......?
Brisket doenjang stew and pudding-style steamed egg
The brisket doenjang stew had such a savory, deep flavor, probably because of the house-made broth; it was clearly different from ordinary prepared doenjang stew. It was packed with tofu, enoki mushrooms, and beef brisket, enough to be a filling meal on its own, and it was perfect as a soupy companion to the ribs. There was so much that we ate it until every bit of meat was gone. And it is only ₩4,000. In Seoul, it would have been at least ₩8,000..
The pudding-style steamed egg is not small; it is big.. The value makes no sense!! The moment I scooped it with a spoon, it broke apart softly, exactly like pudding. It was mild and silky, with the natural flavor of egg, so it paired wonderfully between bites of meat, and the portion was huge. It was almost hard to finish, but it was so delicious that this is a must-order.
What the complimentary mul and bibim naengmyeon tasted like

Because the noodles are pressed in-house, their firm, chewy texture was noticeably different. The mul naengmyeon broth, infused with brisket and fruit and vegetables, was clean-tasting yet deeply savory, making it perfect for refreshing the palate after meat. Eat it with the ribs and it instantly becomes that nostalgic yukssam naengmyeon combination, haha. I recommend that pairing too!
The bibim naengmyeon came topped generously with egg strips in a sweet-spicy sauce, and it looked appetizing from the start. The seasoning was savory without being harsh, the sort of flavor that kept my chopsticks moving. I still cannot get over getting one bowl of naengmyeon free per person. I expected a small serving because it was free, but it was generously portioned, which honestly caught me off guard. It tasted good too... and they were serious about the toppings. This is unreal.

Fruit-marinated pork ribs grilled over charcoal
The marinated pork ribs were good quality, and each portion was quite generous too!! These days even one serving of samgyeopsal easily costs over ₩16,000, so ribs at this price felt like truly excellent value.

As soon as they hit the charcoal, I could see the juices sizzling out, and it really felt like the smoky charcoal flavor was soaking in. The outside browned beautifully while the inside stayed moist, and the fruit marinade’s gentle sweet-salty balance brought out the meat’s own flavor instead of covering it up.

I wrapped a nicely grilled piece in lettuce with ssamjang and garlic, and I simply could not stop reaching for more. A light dip in the pickled-onion sauce cut through the richness so well that I ate every last piece without getting tired of it. The staff were kind, the restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious—such a satisfying place.

Handmade Hamheung naengmyeon kneaded and pressed every morning; a meaty aroma they say comes from good meat rather than seasoning powders; galbitang they say is hand-simmered every day in 100-serving batches with top-quality ribs; a fruit-heavy marinade that is not overly intense; and a wide array of neat, handmade side dishes. The fact that yukhoe is a basic side dish, too—wow. With its private rooms, Manpo Galbi Uijeongbu Main Branch would be great for group gatherings or work dinners, and it is somewhere I would confidently recommend for taking your parents as well!
