Suwon Japanese teppanyaki at Suwon Station: Jojo AK Plaza
In short
Jojo AK Plaza Suwon is a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant in the AK Food Hall at Suwon Station, Gyeonggi. On a return visit, I had the yakisoba set solo, and the smoky soy-sauce noodles and crispy mentaiko gyoza were especially good. Verdict: choose the bar for solo dining, or share yakisoba and okonomiyaki with a group.

I went autumn-clothes shopping at AK Plaza by Suwon Station and had a solo meal at the food court in the basement. There are so many places in AK Plaza’s basement dining area, but this is a spot I came back to because it’s so good 😋

Suwon Station is connected to AK Plaza Suwon and Time Villas Suwon, so it’s really convenient for subway and KTX passengers to eat at the AK Food Hall on B1, too 🙌🏻

The Jojo I visited was immediately to the left of Starbucks at the AK Food Hall entrance, so it was easy to find.

The yakisoba set I ordered for a solo meal
Jojo’s main dishes are several kinds of yakisoba and okonomiyaki. I was super hungry, though 🤣 so I ordered the yakisoba set that I’d loved on my previous visit as my solo meal.

When I came with my partner before, we also tried the pork-and-cheese okonomiyaki, and the bonito flakes and cheese were such a great combination! A shame I was alone today... 🤣 If you’re visiting with two or more people, I highly, highly recommend ordering one yakisoba and one okonomiyaki!!! 👍🏻👍🏻

When your order is ready, the cute orange pager buzzes, haha.

What is the seating like for solo dining at Jojo?
Jojo has bar tables facing the open kitchen. They’re perfect for eating alone, and people dining solo were already seated with a space between each person. I grabbed a spot at the bar table, too.

There are also AK Food Court tables for groups, so you can sit wherever feels comfortable. Since it’s an open kitchen, watching the teppanyaki being cooked made me even hungrier.

Smoky soy-sauce yakisoba and mentaiko gyoza
Yakisoba set Stir-fried udon with pork, squid, cabbage, scallions, and pickled ginger in a smoky soy sauce + 5 mentaiko gyoza

Doesn’t it look absolutely delicious?

The thick noodles had soaked up all the seasoning, so they were nicely flavored even on their own. There were generously sized pieces of pork, and I loved the texture of the lightly cooked cabbage and pickled ginger, too.

Picking up squid and pork together was wonderfully chewy and savory!

The mentaiko gyoza that brought me back
Here are the five mentaiko gyoza that came with the yakisoba set. These were the number-one reason I returned!!

The gyoza dumplings were fried beautifully crisp—the very definition of crunchy outside, tender inside, haha. This really is a Japanese teppanyaki specialist at Suwon Station 👍🏻👍🏻

Dipping them in the orange mentaiko-mayo sauce added a salty, nutty richness, and the savory depth was so good.

Every bite had little pops of mentaiko, so I kept dipping them generously, haha 🧡

In the end, I scraped up every last bit of the mentaiko-mayo sauce— It was perfect for a solo meal!
If you’re looking for teppanyaki at Suwon Station
At Jojo AK Plaza Suwon, which I was happy to revisit, I had the yakisoba set as a solo meal. From sets to individual dishes, the menu works wonderfully in a food-court setting: great for eating alone, or for a group to share several dishes such as okonomiyaki and yakisoba 😋 If you enjoy Japanese teppanyaki, I recommend stopping by Jojo in the conveniently located AK Food Hall at Suwon Station 👍🏻
