Peking duck restaurant in Suwon: Mirim Yangjang at Time Villas

In short

Mirim Yangjang is a Chinese restaurant on the third floor of Time Villas Suwon in Suwon, Gyeonggi. We chose the Peking duck set with fried rice and jjamppong, and loved the crisp skin, moist meat, and smoky noodle soup. Verdict: a filling stop after shopping.

Mirim Yangjang on the third floor of Time Villas Suwon

Exterior of Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon branch

Mirim Yangjang, a great Peking duck spot at Time Villas Suwon, is on the third floor. Its red sign and door stand out, so it should be easy to find.

Mirim Yangjang's red sign and entrance

Mirim Yangjang is cooked by a chef from a third-generation Chinese-Korean family who trained at The Shilla Seoul! That made me even more excited for the food.

The interior felt spacious and tidy. With tables for two all the way up to group seating, it was just right for a get-together!

Seating inside Mirim Yangjang

The place was full of tables with a bold look!

Tables with a bold atmosphere

We visited around 5:30 p.m. on a weekday. There were people dining alone, as well as families out for a meal.

Tables in the spacious restaurant interior

With such a large interior and plenty of tables, it seems like a good place for a group gathering too. I couldn't capture it in a photo, but they also have high chairs, so it would be handy for anyone stopping by for a meal after looking around Time Villas!

Chefs in the open kitchen

The chefs were hard at work 🧑🍳🧑🍳 I liked being able to watch the cooking in the open kitchen.

Menu board in front of the restaurant

The menu is posted in front of the restaurant! There are lots of choices, from Peking duck and noodles to rice dishes, soups, mains, and sides, so it's easy to pick what you like. We got the Peking duck set and chose fried rice and jjamppong for our meal!

Take a moment to admire today's full spread (?)

Refreshing jjamppong full of smoky wok flavor

First, the jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup)! It was packed with seafood and vegetables, so the broth wasn't heavy—it was refreshing and full of smoky wok flavor! 🌶️

There were loads of shrimp too, which I love. The noodles were nicely chewy and soaked up all that broth, making them such a good match with the duck 💛

Fried rice with black bean sauce and a fried egg

Next up, fried rice 🍚 It was the kind of fried rice that reminded me once again that you really should eat fried rice at a place that does Chinese food..!!

Fluffy fried rice

Every grain was fluffy and perfectly stir-fried, so the texture was spot-on! It wasn't overly seasoned, and mixing it with the jjajang (black bean) sauce served alongside, plus the fried egg, was heaven.... 🍽️

Break the egg, give it a quick mix with the rice, then add a little savory black bean sauce—honestly, that familiar flavor is the most dangerous one (?) It was nutty and perfect with the Peking duck, and with either the jjamppong broth or the egg soup served alongside, I could have kept eating forever~~

How did we eat the Peking duck?

Then it was time for the star of the show, Peking duck. First, let's check out the vegetables and sauce (?) The vegetables and wheat pancakes can be refilled 🥢

Peking duck vegetables and wheat pancakes

The glossy skin on the Peking duck was so appealing. It was crisp, rich, and wonderfully nutty!

Glossy Peking duck skin

Pile the skin and meat onto a thin pancake with cucumber, shredded scallions, and lots of hoisin sauce, and it is seriously delicious~

There was no gamey smell at all, and the meat was moist and clean-tasting—it even felt like I was getting some healthy protein...! It tasted similar to the Peking duck I had in Beijing, which I really loved ^_^ The balance of pungent shredded scallions, crisp cucumber, mild meat, and hoisin sauce was so good!

Mirim Yangjang was a Peking duck spot at Time Villas Suwon where we could enjoy such a generous full spread!!

It's easy to get to, and with crisp skin and moist meat free of any gamey smell, even Peking duck beginners could enjoy it without much hesitation! It's in a great spot to recharge with a filling meal while shopping, so if you're planning to visit Time Villas Suwon, save this one and give it a try! Next time, I'm going back to work my way through the other menu items 🫶
