Suwon Station Japanese noodle set for solo dining: Jojo AK Plaza Suwon

In short

Jojo AK Plaza Suwon is a Japanese restaurant in the B1 food court of AK Mall at Suwon Station, Gyeonggi. I tried the 18,000 won basic yakisoba and mentaiko gyoza set at the solo-friendly bar table before shopping. Verdict: a simple but filling choice before browsing the mall.

A Japanese meal before shopping at Suwon Station AK Mall

Before shopping at Suwon Station AK Mall, I wanted to fill up first, so I ate at the B1 food court, where lots of different eateries are gathered. There are all kinds of restaurants in AK Mall’s basement level—from Korean food and Japanese food to bunsik (Korean casual snack food)—so it was easy to pick whatever I felt like. I was craving Japanese food today, so I finally tried the yakisoba I’d been curious about. 🥢 It was also great for sorting out a quick meal before shopping.

Yakisoba and set-menu options

Their signature dish is “Jojo Yakisoba,” stir-fried noodles with seafood and meat, topped with an egg.

Yakisoba, okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), and fried rice are the main meal options, and you can choose according to your taste, including spicy karai yakisoba or lightly salted shio yakisoba. The yakisoba set comes with basic yakisoba plus five pieces of mentaiko gyoza as a side. 🥟✨ If you’re eating together, I’d recommend one of the set menus! Every set includes mentaiko gyoza; the Jojo set for two includes Jojo yakisoba and Jojo okonomiyaki, while the daily set for two includes buta cheese okonomiyaki and basic yakisoba, so you can choose based on what you like.

Ordering solo at the bar table

I sat at a bar table that was great for eating alone. It was my first time trying Japanese stir-fried noodles, so I ordered with excited curiosity about what they would taste like.

Basic yakisoba

A bowl of basic yakisoba

The noodles were pleasantly chewy and thoroughly coated in sauce, with the savory, rich flavor distinctive to stir-fried food. It was my first time having Japanese stir-fried noodles, but the flavor was unexpectedly familiar, so I could enjoy it without any hesitation.

The portion of noodles alone did not look huge, but there was quite a bit of seafood throughout, as well as meat, so it was very filling once I finished the bowl. The cabbage balanced what could have become a rich flavor, and everything worked together nicely! If you like stir-fried noodles, I think you’ll find this an easy, tasty choice.

Mentaiko gyoza

Mentaiko gyoza served with mentaiko sauce

The gyoza came with mentaiko sauce, and I found the combination quite unusual yet surprisingly harmonious. The dumplings were thicker than I expected, so even though I did not eat many, I got full quickly.

The mentaiko sauce was especially delicious. Its sweet-and-tangy flavor cut through the richness and made the gyoza taste different in a really nice way!

A filling yakisoba set with familiar flavors

It was my first Japanese stir-fried noodle dish, but it tasted more familiar than I expected, so it was easy to enjoy. The yakisoba and plump gyoza with tangy mentaiko sauce made this a satisfying meal. 😊

Where to charge your phone at AK Mall

If you’re looking for somewhere to eat at Suwon AK Mall, the B1 food court has a wide range of options, so keep the place I introduced today in mind too :) + Here’s where to charge your phone at Suwon AK Mall ⚡️ When you go up to the second floor of AK Mall, there is a space where you can charge your phone! If you brought your charger, you can stop by and charge comfortably for a while. It can be difficult to charge separately at restaurants or cafés in AK Mall, so if you need to charge your phone while shopping there, I think this spot would be handy. 😀
