Busan pork cutlet restaurant with soup and bread: Deli Donkatsu
In short
Deli Donkatsu is a Western-style pork cutlet restaurant in Songjeong, Haeundae, Busan. I ordered the extra-large Western-style pork cutlet and cheese cutlet for sweet sauce, generous portions, and cheese all the way through. Verdict: a filling stop when you’re craving a nostalgic Western-style Korean meal.

These days, Japanese-style tonkatsu with thick meat and a crisp coating is everywhere, but sometimes you just crave the Western-style Korean pork cutlet we used to eat, right? This time, while looking for lunch in Songjeong, I visited Deli Donkatsu (델리돈까스), which is known for its Western-style pork cutlets. Along with the cutlets, you get soup and bread before the meal, so I had a satisfyingly hearty meal in that nostalgic old-school style for the first time in a while.

A comfortable interior to match the Western-style menu

As soon as I stepped inside, the space felt neat yet charming.

Rather than the modern feel of many newer pork-cutlet specialty restaurants, it had a comfortable atmosphere that suited Western-style Korean pork cutlets perfectly. Even the wood-toned tables had such a pretty design—the owner’s eye for detail really showed!
There are bar seats too, so it did not feel awkward to eat alone. There were actually lots of solo diners on the day I visited! Deli Donkatsu seems to have quite a few older customers as well. High chairs are available too, so it looked like a good place to visit as a family.

The restroom is indoors!

After-meal coffee is available too.

Even the cutlery has such a retro feel—they did not overlook the little details.
What did we order?
The menu includes classic Western-style pork cutlet, cheese pork cutlet, and assorted cutlets. Beyond cutlets, there are also options such as skillet cheese Neapolitan spaghetti and skillet cream kimchi fried rice.

A meal that began with soup and morning bread

There is a guide to enjoying the meal deliciously, so have a look and enjoy it that way.

The drinks have plenty of retro charm too, right? Cola comes in a glass bottle. Zero comes in a can, haha.

The first thing to arrive after we ordered was warm soup. It was a smooth, savory cream-style soup, great for warming up the stomach before the cutlets came out. Soup is often missing at pork-cutlet restaurants these days, but having it served before the meal really made me feel as though I had come to an old-fashioned Western-style restaurant. A little sprinkle of pepper brought out its nutty flavor even more.

Warm morning bread came with the soup too. The bread was soft and warm enough to eat on its own, but spreading on the jam made it sweet and a great match for the soup. Do not eat all the bread! You need some for the cutlet~~

Extra-large Western-style pork cutlet and cheese cutlet
I ordered the extra-large Western-style pork cutlet and the cheese cutlet! Just looking at the color of the sauce made me think, this has to be good~~

The extra-large Western-style pork cutlet I ordered as my main was definitely generous in portion. The golden-fried cutlet came topped with plenty of Western-style sauce, so it felt distinctly different from the Japanese-style cutlets we commonly eat now. The outside was crisp, but the sauce made it easy to eat softly too, and that sweet, salty, familiar Western-style sauce was delicious. Ordering the extra-large size made it especially substantial, perfect when you want a proper lunch.

Put the pork cutlet and salad into the bread like this and eat it!! It is absolutely amazing ♥

And this sweet sauce—they already give you plenty, but it was so good that I asked for more. Even when you dip it realllly deeply, it is not too salty and tastes great!!

Here is the plump cheese pork cutlet.

When I cut into it, it was packed with cheeeese inside, so I could enjoy savory cheese together with the crisp pork cutlet.

The cheese is just deliciously savory cheese—roll it up like this and eat it.

It is not just loaded with cheese at the front; it is generously filled all the way to the end~~ If one person loves the sweet sauce of Western-style pork cutlet and another loves cheese pork cutlet, it would be nice to order one of each and share.

And unlimited rice refills—amazing, right?? The extra rice came in this truly old-school Western-style presentation. Rice spread across the plate; it really brings back memories.

It is the kind of taste that makes you scrape up every last bite!!!
When you are craving nostalgic Western-style pork cutlet in Songjeong
Deli Donkatsu was a place where I could enjoy the atmosphere and flavor of old-fashioned Western-style Korean pork cutlets. The progression from the pre-meal soup and morning bread to the cutlets was particularly fun, and the extra-large portion was generous enough to be truly filling. It is a good place to visit when you want a substantial but not overly heavy lunch in Songjeong, or when you are craving nostalgic Western-style pork cutlet. If choosing just one cutlet feels like a shame, I also recommend ordering both the Western-style pork cutlet and cheese pork cutlet to enjoy their different flavors together.
