An ocean-view Chinese restaurant I visited with my parents in Marine City

Hasn't the weather been so clear and lovely lately that you just want to run away somewhere or eat something delicious while looking at a pretty sea? I took my mom and dad out for a lovely meal somewhere with a great atmosphere for a change. Whenever I plan a meal with my parents, I go into full search mode wondering where we should eat, but this time I found a real hidden-gem restaurant in Haeundae that I absolutely loved!

A Haeundae restaurant visited with my parents

It was Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, newly opened on the second floor of the Adelis shopping arcade in Marine City. The moment I walked in, I completely fell for the wide-open blue ocean view—this Marine City favorite was too good not to share, haha.

European flair and a Gwangan Bridge view

Step off the elevator on the second floor and—ta-da!—a spacious, polished interior appears. Instead of the predictable red-heavy look you might expect from a Chinese restaurant, it has a distinctive, trendy concept that pairs refined European flair with classic Chinese cuisine. I found it so charming.

Best of all, the window seats give you a sweeping view of Gwangan Bridge in Haeundae. Wow, I thought, this really is a Marine City spot with a view! I visited at night, but during the day, I heard you can see not only Gwangan Bridge but the blue sea too.

The soft, warm lighting made it feel perfectly romantic for a date or a special anniversary gathering. Bueokgan Chinese is also wonderfully roomy, with generously spaced tables, so it was ideal for enjoying an intimate family meal with my parents without being bothered by other tables. It was such a nice Haeundae restaurant for our own private, relaxed time.

The signature dishes three of us chose

My mom, dad, and I visited as a group of three, and happily debated what to try. We ordered one signature poached-egg five-layer pork ganjjajang (stir-fried black-bean noodles), one extra-large beef brisket jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and one small black-vinegar heart-shaped tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork).

Whenever I visited restaurants in Marine City before, I often felt the choices leaned toward fairly predictable Western food or brunch. Here, though, the menu was as strong as the atmosphere, with lots of uncommon, high-quality dishes that made choosing so much fun.

As we waited for our food, we took in the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Dongbaekseom Island is right nearby, perfect for a walk after eating, so I especially want to recommend this place to anyone looking for a restaurant near Dongbaekseom. We waited for our meal excitedly, watching sunlight glitter on the waves.

The crisp, deep flavor of black-vinegar tangsuyuk

The first dish set on our table was the black-vinegar heart-shaped tangsuyuk! Its gorgeous, glossy appearance was an instant pass before we even tasted it. The moment I took a bite, the sweet, tangy, deeply flavored black-vinegar sauce filled my mouth, and wow—this was the real deal.

The pork was incredibly tender with no unwanted smell, and the outside had that wonderful chewy-yet-crisp texture. My parents said it suited their tastes perfectly and enjoyed it so much. Serving classic Chinese cuisine in such a sophisticated, upscale way—the chef at Bueokgan Chinese clearly has serious skill.

Seeing this place win over even my parents, who are quite particular when choosing restaurants, immediately convinced me that it really is a true Marine City favorite.

Next came the poached-egg five-layer pork ganjjajang, which overwhelmed us with its appearance the moment it arrived! I popped the cute round poached egg and mixed it into the noodles. The nutty egg, juicy thick-grilled pork belly, and intensely rich ganjjajang sauce fragrant with black-bean paste came together like a dream.

The noodles stayed springy right to the final bite instead of getting soggy, and the more I chewed, the more umami burst through. It had an irresistible quality that made it impossible to put my chopsticks down.

Then the extra-large beef brisket jjamppong arrived, and the first spoonful of broth made me go, “Ahh~” all on its own! The rich, weighty meat broth had a fiery, peppery wok flavor that made me feel instantly refreshed inside, even though I hadn't had a drink the night before. There was also a mountain of beef brisket, so the three of us could fill up properly and generously. Every dish had such care behind it—proper Haeundae restaurant quality.

Window-seat reservations and parking tips

For anyone planning a visit to Bueokgan Chinese after reading my post, here is a little tip! The window seats, where you can enjoy that dazzling ocean view, are incredibly popular, so I strongly recommend reserving one before you go.

And attention, drivers! Parking can be a nightmare in this neighborhood, but here you can comfortably use the spacious, pleasant Adelis shopping arcade parking lot, so even new drivers needn't worry. Plus, according to the writer, at lunchtime the road is outside parking enforcement, so you can briefly park along the curb in front of the arcade. Keep that in mind! It is such a relief to find a Marine City restaurant where you can enjoy your meal without parking stress, right? The tables inside are roomy too, with excellent group seating, making it a fantastic place for a gathering.

A huge success for a family meal

From the overall interior atmosphere to the high-quality food and the staff's kindly smiling service, Bueokgan Chinese was perfect in every way—seriously flawless! There are plenty of group seats as well, so it was a complete success as a comfortable family-meal destination for us.

The view was so lovely that eating while looking out the window felt like leisurely healing on the sea. With great natural light for photos, this Marine City view restaurant works not only for a sweet, romantic Haeundae date but also for an important business meeting or a special gathering with people you care about. It is a Dongbaekseom-area restaurant with absolutely nothing lacking.

If you are tired of the same neighborhood brunch and Western-food options, please stop by this excellent Haeundae restaurant, where you can enjoy generously portioned, hotel-quality classic Chinese cuisine at good value while looking out at the wide-open blue sea. It was personally one of the most satisfying places I have visited lately, and I want to tell everyone I know about it. You will not regret it!

From now on, whenever I crave jajangmyeon or tangsuyuk, I think I'll rush straight to Bueokgan Chinese without hesitation. It even stole the hearts of my picky parents, so I have officially claimed it in my heart as my go-to Marine City restaurant!
