Eunpyeong Korean BBQ with juicy pork neck and soondubu: Yukjjip
In short
Yukjjip is a staff-grilled Korean BBQ restaurant in Eunpyeong, Seoul, three minutes from Eungam Station. We ordered the 800g mixed platter twice and finished with spicy soft tofu stew mixed with rice. Verdict: go to Yukjjip for seriously juicy pork neck and an easy, satisfying meat feast.

But this is my space, so there are no lies here. Of course, this review includes what I paid for myself too~ Insane, I spent over ₩100,000 of my own money. Sheesh.
This Eungam Station meat restaurant, Yukjjip (육쯥), was a revisit. It was so good the first time that I spent big, and somehow I spent just as much today too ㅠ The meat is seriously delicious, and it is even better because it is an Eunpyeong place that grills it for you! No lengthy explanation needed—here is my review of Yukjjip, which is simply good~
Yukjjip near Eungam Station: location and waiting

It is a Bulgwangcheon favorite just a three-minute walk from Eungam Station, right at the very start of the stream. It was not quite like this before, but lately it has grown into a meat restaurant with waits even on weekdays(?)

This was meant to be a limited-time event, but it got extended and is still on ❗️ Seriously, we drank six bottles and it was ₩6,000. That makes no sense. There is no separate need for creative economics ㅠㅠ

For waiting at Eungam Yukjjip, you have to stand outside in the open, so I think midsummer would be rough... But when it is cool like these days, it is perfectly nice! Love the thoughtful ice water for people waiting.
The interior is divided between the first and second floors: five tables and the men's restroom are on the first floor, while eight tables and the women's restroom are upstairs! Tables are closer together upstairs, so the atmosphere is a little noisier.

On the first floor, they leave the windows completely open, so a gentle outdoor breeze comes in... It feels like eating outside... You can see the sunset sky too, and it is just so nice ㅠㅠ

The 800g mixed platter and banchan spread
There are four types of meat: pork belly, pork neck, gabrisal, and pork skirt meat. Other sides include doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), soft tofu stew, kimchi stew, cold and mixed noodles with young radish kimchi, and young-radish bibimbap too~ For families visiting with children, the free child-sized rice will be nice as well.
- 800g mixed platter — ₩72,000 × 2
- Spicy soft tofu stew — ₩7,000
- Rice — ₩1,000
- Soju — ₩1,000 × 2
- Beer — ₩2,000 × 2
- Soft drink — ₩2,000
The three of us ate this much, so honestly, I wish every meat restaurant would set one serving at around 450g ㅠ Is 180g or 150g really supposed to be a serving? ㅠ People say Yukjjip near Eungam Station does soft tofu stew really well, so we ordered it too.
The basic sides were myeonginamul leaves, garlic, peppers and lettuce, meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), ssamjang, seasoned salted shrimp and salt, white kimchi, green-onion kimchi, and seasoned bean sprouts with chives. My dad called that seasoned salted shrimp jaha-jeot? He says to think of it as baby shrimp jeotgal, and it has insane synergy with the meat ㅠㅠ I was obsessed with it last time too, and it was just as delicious this time.

Overall, the side dishes are not sweet, so the lightly sweet seasoned bean sprouts are the perfect accompaniment. Refills are essential~ You need to grab whole heaps of it haha.

The 800g mixed platter. It comes with garlic scapes, king oyster mushrooms, and eggplant too, and grilling those vegetables coated in pork fat gives them a seriously massive upgrade ㅠ

Plain eggplant ➡️ turns into pretty excellent eggplant, though it is still eggplant either way.

Staff-grilled meat and ultra-juicy pork neck
Also, soju is ₩1,000 and beer is ₩2,000, so naturally you have to make somaek (soju-and-beer mix) right away. They take the soju out of that dedicated fridge, so it is wonderfully cold ㅠ Yukjjip's Terra draft beer is really good too, but Terra draft is not discounted, so everyone, have the house-made somaek.

Everything is great, but it is such a shame that the zero cola is not 💚Pepsi💚 but 😩Coca-Cola😩 haha. All zero-Coca-Cola fans, please leave.
Yukjjip handles everything from beginning to end, which is so nice, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an Eunpyeong meat restaurant that grills for you. Staff-grilled meat is great because you can focus on conversation and relax, but also because the staff grill it so well!!!!! Being able to eat the same meat at its absolute best is really wonderful.

I think we refilled that salted shrimp at least twice more—it is just a perfect match, a perfect match ㅠㅠ The savory depth is incredible. And Yukjjip, an Eungam Station favorite, has exceptionally, exceptionally delicious pork neck. Even a hardcore pork-belly person like me had my eyes opened by the pork neck?
Having tried every cut here, I think the meat that suits the name Yukjjip best, out of pork belly, pork neck, skirt meat, and gabrisal, is the pork neck!! The juices genuinely burst out ㅠㅠ

Good meat tastes better eaten plain than wrapped in lettuce. I remembered paying extra for added lettuce last time, so I was subtly telling Dad not to make too many wraps—I am not lying, seriously. But this time, free refills were possible? Ah, I feel bad for no reason, regrettable~

Putting whole garlic cloves in the meljeot is such a point from someone who truly knows good food, is it not?

And pork belly, what more is there to say? Yukjjip, an Eungam Station favorite, cuts its meat quite thick, so it retains the juices really well hahahahaha. It is perfect for me, someone who loves thick-cut meat ㅠ

I tore apart the white kimchi with chopsticks, but when we got a refill it came pre-cut! They should have served it this way from the start, I mean~ The white kimchi had exactly that white-kimchi-in-dongchimi feeling!!!!! It was wonderfully refreshing and clean.
And it is practically criminal that this delicious green-onion kimchi is a basic side but they do not sell jjapagetti as a side menu???? At this rate, owner, I have no choice but to bring a cup of jjajang ramyeon myself as a consolation ㅠ

A spicy finish: soft tofu stew with rice
I thought I would be less impressed because I already knew the flavor, but it was just as delicious as last time ㅠ So we added another 800g and ate it all again. At the register, I get hit hard by the realization of what discounts even mean.
And the much-anticipated soft tofu stew. It was saltier than expected, but I was planning to mix in rice and eat it like a drinking stew anyway, so that was fine. I was a little taken aback by how strongly it tasted like ramen seasoning powder hahahahahahahahahaha. If you are not careful, you could probably guess which ramen it is. So rather than the moderately clear soft tofu stew we know, this was a fully thick, rich one!!
Once I mixed in rice and ate it as drinking stew, the seasoning was perfect and it was so delicious ㅠ My younger sibling ate a ton of meat and then said this was the best thing, which briefly made me mad? It is not that I dislike the ramen-seasoning flavor; I was just surprised by how strong it was. Still, the taste is fantastic.

The menu says the standard spice level is like Teumsae Ramyeon, and it really was about that spicy, which I liked. Often things are less spicy than the listed level, you know? Of course, you can order it less spicy too!! I know doenjang drinking stew well because I have had it often, but I wondered what soft tofu stew drinking stew would be like—and ending with its spice to cut through the meat's richness was just so good~~
I highly recommend Yukjjip as an Eungam Station favorite. I do not even know how much I spend every time I go here... If you go with a group, it does not even feel unfair; you just eat a lot ㅠ It is convenient because they grill it for you + the meat quality is excellent + Terra draft is delicious + there is currently a liquor special. There is no reason not to go, and especially no reason to wait before the event ends—head to this Bulgwangcheon meat restaurant, Yukjjip.
