I was in Gwanggyo for an event and, craving a handmade burger for the first time in a while, went to Base Burger. There are so many restaurants inside Avenue France that I deliberated for ages, but somehow this was one of those days when I wanted a proper burger with fries.
It was a great fit when I wanted a burger that felt more generous and distinctive than fast food. It is also easy to pop into while shopping, so I’d recommend it if you are looking for a good restaurant at Gwanggyo Avenue France~
Base Burger’s location on the second floor of Gwanggyo Avenue France

Base Burger is on the second floor of Gwanggyo Avenue France. Avenue France itself is quite large, but once you head up to the second floor, the restaurant was not too difficult to find. The large BAS BURGER sign makes it easy to spot when you get close.

It is a handy place to stop by after eating around Gwanggyo Jungang Station or while shopping at Avenue France. Since burgers are a menu item everyone can enjoy comfortably, it was a Gwanggyo Avenue France restaurant that would work just as well with friends as for a family visit.

Kiosk ordering and a relaxed restaurant atmosphere
Once inside, the space felt quite a bit larger than it looked from outside. It was casual overall, with slightly dim lighting, so the atmosphere was a little different from a typical fast-food place. It felt like somewhere you could sit back, eat a burger, and chat.

You can order at the kiosk, which made it easy to take my time looking through the menu and set options. It would not feel awkward to come in alone for one burger, and it also looked suitable for a larger group.
Base Burger had quite a variety, from the classic Base Burger to the Hawaiian burger, double bacon cheeseburger, mushroom burger, and shrimp burger. There were sides from French fries to onion rings too, making it fun to choose according to your taste. We ordered the Hawaiian burger, a chicken burger set, and a chili mozzarella cheese bar.

Self-serve potato chips while waiting for the burgers
While waiting for our burgers, the self-serve bar caught my eye. Base Burger has a self-serve bar with potato chips and sauces, and it is fun to nibble on a few chips as you wait. Just do not eat too many, or you might be full before the burgers arrive!

The Hawaiian burger with grilled pineapple
First up, the Hawaiian burger. Whether you like pineapple in a burger is definitely a matter of taste, but I like this kind of sweet combination too, so I was looking forward to it.
Base Burger’s Hawaiian burger comes with a beef patty, cheese, bacon, and grilled pineapple. It combines the pineapple’s gentle sweetness with the smoky flavor that comes from grilling. I already love Hawaiian burgers, and this place’s version was seriously delicious..

Crispy, juicy chicken burger and French fries
The chicken burger has a charm all its own compared with a beef patty, and the crispy chicken patty worked better with the burger than I expected. The first thing I noticed on taking a bite was that crisp texture.
The chicken patty was crisp outside and juicy inside, making every bite satisfying, while the vegetables and sauce came together so it did not feel too heavy.

A burger really needs fries alongside it to feel complete. Ordering a set meant we could have crisp French fries and a drink too, making it a pretty filling meal.

The stretchy-cheese chili mozzarella cheese bar
A burger alone felt a little incomplete, so we added a chili mozzarella cheese bar as a side. It was crisp outside with mozzarella inside, and the cheese really stretched when I took a bite. It is hard to just pass by a visual like that, right? The nutty cheese with a lightly spicy chili kick was less rich than expected, and it was a good match to pick at between bites of the savory burger.

The drink cups were stamped with Base Burger too, and they were cute.

Base Burger was a comfortable spot for a handmade-burger meal while shopping at Gwanggyo Avenue France. If you are in Gwanggyo running errands or on a date and get a burger craving, it is worth visiting when you want a more proper handmade burger than an ordinary chain burger:)
