I went to Neukdaewa Yang Samsan Branch (늑대와양 삼산점), near Gulpocheon Station, for a weekend meal with my mother, who likes lamb skewers. We ordered both classic lamb skewers and lamb rib meat skewers to compare their textures, along with guobaorou (Chinese-style sweet and sour fried pork).

Where is Neukdaewa Yang near Gulpocheon Station?

Neukdaewa Yang Samsan Branch is on the second floor of a commercial building near Gulpocheon Station. Its address is Units 201–202, 21 Chungseon-ro 209beon-gil, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon. The yellow sign was clearly visible from outside, so it was not difficult to find on my first visit.

On the way up, there was an introduction to the skewer varieties sold here. Besides the classic lamb skewers, there were king sirloin, cheonrihyang, lamb rib meat, and garlic curry lamb skewers, giving diners options according to their tastes.

A notice in the restaurant said that they use lamb trimmed to exclude tough cuts or cuts with a strong odor. It also explained that they spend more than three hours trimming each day and select the cuts to use.

Is the space suited to family meals or groups?

The restaurant was clean and fairly spacious. There was also a separate room at the very back, which looked suitable for a meal with a larger group.

The indoor restroom was clean, so it was comfortable to use. Once we were seated, a serving robot brought us water and plates.

What did we order, and how much was it?

My mother and I ordered 10 classic lamb skewers and 10 lamb rib meat skewers. We also added guobaorou and one Cass beer. The prices below were current at the time of my visit.

The table was set with a signature soy sauce, chojang sauce, cumin, lamb-skewer seasoning, and spicy chili powder. The same skewers tasted different depending on which seasoning I paired them with.

How did the classic and lamb rib meat skewers taste?

Our skewers arrived. The lamb rib meat had a moderate amount of fat, while the classic lamb skewers were a mix of lean meat and fat.

We placed the skewers on the charcoal brazier in the middle of the table and grilled them ourselves. As the surface of the meat slowly cooked and fat dripped onto the charcoal, it gave off a savory aroma.

As I removed the well-cooked classic lamb skewers one by one, they were more tender than I expected. The lamb flavor was there, but the odor was not overpowering. To my taste, even someone who does not eat lamb skewers often could enjoy them fairly comfortably.

Cold beer also went well with the well-grilled lamb skewers. My mother and I lightly clinked our glasses, sitting across from each other and grilling skewers as we ate.

I especially liked coating the skewers generously with cumin. I also added the spicy seasoning or lightly dipped them in the soy sauce. With so many seasonings, I could change the flavor all the way to the last skewer.

Both the classic lamb skewers and lamb rib meat skewers released savory juices as I chewed. The browned surface from the charcoal grill added the aroma of grilled meat. My mother said they were delicious too, so we both enjoyed the meal.

Can you get more side dishes?

There was a self-service station on one side of the restaurant. We could take as many of the basic side dishes and pieces of tableware as we needed.

It was convenient to add more side dishes myself as we ate them with the lamb skewers. The dressed zhacai (pickled mustard stem) was not spicy, and I kept reaching for the peanuts too.

How did we pair the guobaorou and rice?

The guobaorou we ordered was tender and generously coated in sauce.

We also ate the lamb skewers with rice. Placing well-grilled lamb on a bite-sized portion of rice with a little wasabi made it feel like a small piece of lamb sushi. The charcoal-scented meat and rice went together better than I expected, so I ate several pieces this way.

For this meal, I liked being able to grill the tender skewers right over charcoal and pair them with a range of seasonings. The restaurant was also fairly spacious, so it seemed suited not only to a meal with my mother but also to drinks and lamb skewers with friends.
