Korean restaurant in Siheung for dakbokkeumtang: Jeongjeong-a Sikdang

At Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch (정정아식당 정왕점), a Jeongwang-dong favorite, I properly enjoyed everything from dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken) to cockles and seafood pajeon. Definitely a good-value restaurant!

A great place for a full Korean meal in Jeongwang-dong

While looking for somewhere to have a hearty Korean meal in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, I visited Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch. There tend to be lots of barbecue places and bars when you search for good restaurants in Jeongwang-dong, but this spot centers on dakbokkeumtang alongside cockles, seafood pajeon, and muksabal, so it looked ideal for a group to share a little of everything.

Along with the dakbokkeumtang, we had seafood pajeon, cockles, and refreshing muksabal. The menu combination was really nice. The set is such great value—approved!

They use fresh Korean chicken and Yeosu cockles. Jeongjeong-a Sikdang is an easy place to trust for domestic ingredients.

Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch location and parking

Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch is in Units 106, 107, and 108 at 20 Seochonsangga 4-gil, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It is about five minutes by car from Jeongwang Station, or roughly 15 minutes on foot. Look for the first floor of the On Motel building beside Sikjajaewang Mart Siheung Branch.

Parking matters when you drive over, like I did. The building's underground and ground-level parking are free, and there is also a free public parking lot right in front of the restaurant beside Hwashin Officetel, so parking felt less worrying. Hours are 10:30 AM to 10 PM, Monday through Saturday, and the restaurant is regularly closed every Sunday.

It is a spacious restaurant, so it is good for gatherings too.

Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch has a relatively spacious interior, so it looked suitable for a family meal, dinner with friends, or a company get-together. It is also fairly accessible for anyone looking for lunch or dinner around Jeongwang-dong or the Siheung Industrial Complex.

Ordering Set No. 4 and dakbokkeumtang

That day, I had Set No. 4—seafood pajeon, cockles, and mukchae (acorn jelly strips)—as well as the signature dakbokkeumtang. One dish did not seem like enough, so I ordered several things together, and tasting this and that made me genuinely happy, haha.

Here is the dakbokkeumtang, the main event that day. It is Jeongjeong-a Sikdang's signature dish, so I ordered it with high expectations—and once it arrived at the table, it looked appetizing from the start.

They say they use fresh domestic chicken delivered daily, and the chicken was tender with seasoning that had soaked in nicely. Broth and seasoning are everything in dakbokkeumtang, right? The spicy, savory seasoning paired beautifully with the chicken, and it had properly soaked into the vegetables too.

There were plenty of potatoes and green onions too, and after letting it bubble away once, it became even tastier~

Especially when you lightly mix rice into the dakbokkeumtang broth, it tastes like you could finish a whole bowl of rice in no time. If you are looking for good dakbokkeumtang in Jeongwang-dong, this seems like a worthwhile place to try.

Yeosu and Beolgyo cockles with muksabal

They say the cockles are domestic ones brought in from Yeosu and Beolgyo. They retained that characteristically pleasantly chewy texture, and the seasoning really woke up the appetite.

The savory seasoning would go well with rice too. Eating the cockles alongside a boldly seasoned dish like dakbokkeumtang gave the meal another flavor to enjoy.

I also liked the muksabal that came with the set. When you are eating warm, seasoned dishes such as dakbokkeumtang or seafood pajeon, you start craving something cool in between, right? A spoonful of muksabal then felt like it refreshed my palate.

With springy acorn jelly in a chilled broth, it was lovely to have throughout the meal. Personally, I really like a menu lineup like this.

Thick and moist seafood pajeon

Jeongjeong-a Sikdang's seafood pajeon is a little thicker than the usual thin pajeon, with lots of vegetables. It was crisp outside and moist inside, with a great texture. There were generous amounts of scallions and various vegetables for a satisfying bite, while the seafood added savoriness, so it was delicious even simply dipped in soy sauce. As described, it also had a touch of an okonomiyaki-style pajeon feel, giving it a charm a little different from ordinary seafood pajeon. Cut up and eaten hot, I kept reaching for another piece.

At Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch, I tried dakbokkeumtang, cockles, seafood pajeon, and muksabal. The lineup—from spicy dakbokkeumtang and chewy seasoned cockles to crisp-yet-moist seafood pajeon and refreshing muksabal—was varied, making it feel especially suited to visiting with a group. More than anything, I loved being able to sample a little of several dishes instead of eating just one. If you are looking for a good restaurant in Jeongwang-dong or near Jeongwang Station and enjoy dakbokkeumtang, Jeongjeong-a Sikdang Jeongwang Branch is worth keeping in mind. Next time, I want to properly have the dakbokkeumtang with rice too. On a day when I crave spicy, hearty Korean food in Jeongwang-dong, I will remember it as a place for a generous meal with family or friends.
