In short

Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Gangseo, Seoul, near Balsan Station. I had marinated pork collar ribs with my mom and brother, and the staff grilling, generous portions, naengmyeon, and pear sorbet made the meal wonderfully easy. On a weekend evening, my mom, my older brother, and I went out for dinner after a long-overdue little date together at Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch, a popular spot near Balsan Station. Parking was easy, and the interior felt upscale and spotless, so I loved it from the very first impression. Let me introduce this great galbi place in Magok—we’re already planning to return for a family dinner with my dad and husband next time!

A hanok-like exterior and a spotless interior

The hanok (traditional Korean house)-like design immediately caught my eye! The exterior is clean and uncluttered, and since it is near Balsan Station, it is easy to reach from both Balsan and Magok.

Once inside, the whole place felt clean yet refined. Along with the spacious main dining area, there are private rooms, making it a lovely setting not only for family meals but also for group gatherings, company dinners, and family birthday celebrations!

I also liked that the tables were nicely spaced apart. The rooms would make for an even more comfortable meal, so this is a great Korean barbecue restaurant in Magok for groups! You order using the tablet on the table.

Tablet ordering system on the table

One small thing I appreciated was that the water was bottled, and each set of cutlery came individually wrapped, which felt very hygienic! I think this kind of little detail is why it is so well known around Balsan Station.

They offer everything from beef ribs to pork ribs, along with meal dishes! It was really nice that we could easily order extra requests or more side dishes through the tablet, too.

What I especially loved was the portion of pork ribs. Many places sell roughly 250 g as one serving with the bone still attached, but here, one serving is a whopping 300 g of boneless meat only! We ordered three servings for the three of us, and it still felt very generous. The side dishes were not overly seasoned, and there were plenty of fresh vegetables, which were so delicious with the ribs.

Pork ribs and side dishes

These pork ribs use carefully selected premium pork collar, bringing out a firm texture and nutty flavor! I heard they maximize tenderness through a patented 144-hour cross-aging method, then age the meat in a natural marinade made with freshly ground organic pear!

A comfortable family meal with staff grilling

Another thing I was truly pleased with here was that the staff grill the meat for you! At Korean barbecue restaurants, the meat can be delicious, but sometimes you spend the whole time turning and grilling it instead of properly enjoying your meal. Here, the staff took care of it for us!

They grilled it until it was perfectly cooked, and if any charred bits appeared, they even removed those themselves, so we could eat so comfortably. Thanks to that, I could enjoy a relaxed meal while chatting with my mom and brother, which made me even happier haha.

The marinade did not sit only on the surface—it had gently seeped into the meat, and each bite was tender with the signature savory richness of pork collar. My mom loves galbi and has tried it at all sorts of places, but after tasting this, she raved that the galbi here was really delicious! It won over even my mom’s taste buds, making this Balsan Station restaurant all the more satisfying haha. I would recommend this Korean barbecue restaurant in Magok to anyone looking for a place for a family meal!

A refreshing finish with mul-naengmyeon and pear sorbet

Mul-naengmyeon to finish the meal
Mul-naengmyeon served with pork ribs

We ordered it to finish our meat, but the naengmyeon itself was so delicious that I briefly wondered whether this was actually a naengmyeon restaurant.. The cool broth and noodles refreshed the palate, and it paired beautifully with the sweet-salty pork ribs!

After we had finished all the meat, we could order pear sorbet from the dessert menu on the tablet. The chilled pear sorbet made for such a clean, refreshing finish!

My mom was very satisfied too, saying you could tell the owner had put care into the place: the food was delicious, and every bit of service felt thoughtful! Since it is close to home, I think we will come here often when dining out with family. What I especially loved was the generous amount of meat and the attentive staff grilling it so we could eat comfortably. The clean, upscale interior is also perfect for hosting guests, making Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch a great Balsan Station restaurant for group gatherings and family birthdays. For properly good pork ribs, this is number one among the Korean barbecue restaurants in Magok.
