Gangseo Seoul coffee shop: Black Latte at Pict Roastery

In short

Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch is a coffee shop in Gangseo, Seoul, that roasts green beans in-house. I tried the Black Latte and pistachio tiramisu, a smooth, nutty pairing without burnt or sharply acidic coffee notes. Verdict: a lovely relaxed stop for one or two people.

A Black Latte with a special nutty flavor

First, the Black Latte! It is one of Pict Roastery’s special latte drinks, and its slightly black-tinted look, true to its name, immediately caught my eye. ☕

The nutty flavors of macadamia and hazelnut were joined by a subtle cacao aroma, making it smooth but distinctive. Perhaps because it was made with beans roasted in-house, there were no burnt or strongly acidic notes, so it was easy to drink. Its rich yet clean finish made every sip feel so good.

A nutty pistachio tiramisu that is not too sweet

The pistachio tiramisu was not overly sweet and went so well with coffee! Totally my kind of dessert, haha. The natural, nutty pistachio flavor came through richly, making it more appealing with every bite. 🤎

It is a flavor I want to have again next time, so I have one more reason to return. Haha. It was a dream pairing with the Black Latte! Looking around, I noticed lots of people ordering the matcha Basque cheesecake and aged French toast.

I usually love matcha, so next time I come, I definitely have to try the matcha Basque cheesecake. Haha.

True to a Magok coffee shop that roasts its own green beans, Pict Roastery’s coffee quality really stood out. With its sophisticated black-toned interior and the open feel from the floor-to-ceiling windows, it is a Magok café I would love to visit again! 💛🧡🤎
